View Full Version : Just getting started
Hey I am just getting back into the Car Stero world. I have been out of it for about 2 years now. I am not looking for anything expensive, and right now looking on ebay.
My question is How are legacy amps? would they get me started or should I just stay away from them? Also what are some pretty good inexpensive amps?
Thanks.

I would stay away from legacy.

Stay away from Legacy for sure. I can not tell you how many kids i've seen fry those things. They have an all around poor build quality. You should be able to find some good deals on some nice products on ebay. Let us know your budget and we can help you out further.
Hey thanks for the info. I just bought a KAC-7201 for 94 bucks including shipping.

I'm assuming that's a Kenwood amp? If so, it's atleast better than Legacy.
yea it is a Kenwood Amp. My old amp used to be kenwood and I had real good luck with it so we will see. Anyways 94 bucks if something goes bad not like I put a crap load into it.

True, as long as the amp doesn't damage the speakers you plan to power with it. Not saying that it will or won't, just that you run the risk with lower end amplifiers especially when running them at levels that create higher rates of THD.

Kenwood's not that bad, although amplifiers sure aren't their specialty. I wouldn't consider it low end. More like a middle of the road type amp. Personally, I haven't heard of many kenwood amps given people problems.
