Here's a bit of backround on me and CDT's products.
Well I had the CDT CL61a's for awhile, but they just didn't cut it for me. You can read my review of them too, I did like them, they were built well and they are nice for the price, but I needed to upgrade. I was so satisfied with CDTs product I decided to go with them again, and got the EF series, the HD series is around $300 and the EF was where I wanted, $200.

Description: these EF series speakers have a carbon fiber cone (which is really weird to examine if you've never seen carbon fiber before) they have the Satnet 560 x-over, and they have a 1" silk dome tweeter.

Price: I purchased these speakers from a CDT authorized dealer for $200 shipped. He is an incredible guy with great prices so if you would like information on him you can PM/IM/Email me.

Build Quality: These speakers are quite a bit of a step up from the CL series. They just "feel" more professional even if you are just handling them. The actual speaker magnet, frame, and cone are a lot bigger/heavier than the CL. The tweeter on the CL series I believe is 3/4" and the EF is 1", but it is a LOT bigger, let me tell you. As usual, the tweeter was very solid, the wiring come out is very strong, it does not come out easy or anything. The crossover is very sturdy, it is a lot larger than the CL crossover. This time they provide you with a much more secure and strong mounting option. It comes iwth a removeable case and the terminals to screw into are MUCH better built and stronger than the CL crossover. 100% upgrade there.

Sound Quality: These speakers sure sound great for $200. Im sure they are no DynAudio or Highend Arc's or anything, but they can get loud, and sound good while doing it. The tweeter, supplies just the right amount of sound at the right frequencies. The midbass is nothing spectacular but it definetly gets the job done. If you put in a live CD (not the band live, but something recorded live) these speakers sound incredible. And if it's an acoustic performance, they sound even more incredible. With rock, depending on the song, but for the most part the music blends nicely. In some songs the tweeter is a bit harsh, but nothing a little tweaking cant fix.

Complaints: The tweeter at times can get harsh, but probably depends on where you have it mounted, and could be due to some songs. The midbass is a bit weak, but like I said, this set is not a spectacularly high end set and they are not subs. Another thing that can be anticipated with buying a nice set of comps or speakers is that you have to make wood baffles for the speakers in the doors.

Overall: I would buy these speakers again, and I don't think ill be looking to upgrade speakers for a while. They get loud, they sound good, they can keep up with my sub, they dont distort unless you have your gains up high and they volume up real high, and they are very reasonably priced.
