If anyone out there thinks could contribute any amount of information that may help I would appreciate - Here is my situation:
- I have just purchased this car, from my old car came Pioneer deh-6500/XM Skyfi/Rockford Fosgate 5100 2 channel/2 12" P2 Rockford Fosgate subs in sealed box/ - I did spend a considerable amount of money for these items so naturally I would like to integrete into my new car - Well here's the deal I am sure many people have come across the delema of upgrading your factory Bose to an aftermarket - Seems this is not at all an easy/reasonable thing to do, I have gone to my high end car audio store - where I got one story that included many parts and a HUGE estimate - then I travelled to Best Buy where I received a completely different story - I don't think I would let BB touch this car - I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer -
- Does my I30 have a Bose factory amplifier running this system? The rear speakers are fairly large, I was not able to find the amp -
- Would anyone out there recommend upgrading my factory audio? Take into consideration is does not at all even sound decent - One rear speaker sounds like it may be damaged - I love XM and would like to forget the skyfi and upgrade to XM direct - run right through my Pioneer deck -
- Are there any recommened guides for upgrading factory Bose to an aftermarket system?

To make a long story short, you will have to manually run all new wiring if you want to upgrade from a Bose system. Thos Bose systems are a total joke and sound terrible. You will need to run new speaker wire from the HU throughout the car. It's unfortunate, but tose Bose systems are a pain in the ass.

Just like any amplified factory system, a pain in the but.
Ditto what Justin said.
Just unhook the garbage and run all new stuff. Running speaker wire isnt that hard, it just takes time.

- what about the wiring from the Bose deck to the front/rear factory speakers - can I use this existing wiring and switch out the bose speakers. I know the Bose impedance values will ruin my aftermarket deck - so why not just swap out the speakers? Is the problem w/the actual wiring? Or maybe I have no way of plugging into the existing wiring @<hidden> the dash due to the fact it runs to the Bose amp?

You can run Bose speakers off a new Head unit, but you can't run new speakers off the Bose head unit. You can't use old wiring if you are using new speakers, you have to run new wiring.

When I was @<hidden> a local highend car audio shop they explained to me that since my Bose speakers are running @<hidden> 1 or 2 Ohms they will damage an aftermarket headunit - Is this true? - What is the reasoning behind having to run new wiring for new speakers Justin?

That is absolutely true if they are indeed running lower than 4 ohms. Almost all aftermarket head units (and even stock ones) are designed to take down to a 4 ohm load. Going lower will cause the amplifier in the head unit to overheat = possible fire = bad = not good (lol). I'm not sure how true that fact is though, need to look into that (the speakers @<hidden> 1 or 2 ohms).
The reason he suggests running new wire is the fact that most factory wire is small and aftermarket head units usually put out a bit more power than stock ones. The larger gauge wire from will prevent any fires, but typically, the stock wiring is usually just fine, just make sure you have a factory harness adaptor so you need not cut the wires off the plug.
actually my dad has a 03 infiniti G35 and i think the bose system sounds good. a lot better than people make it out to sound. its actually pretty good imaging, 8inch sub, 4 6.5"s, and a lot of tweeters that are placed pretty nicely.
although i must say, i have read some awful things about them and i will never buy their products. and I will admit i did think, from what i'd heard, bose was "unbeatable" and the nicest.
shame shame

The reason you need to run new wire is to avoid that BOSE amp.
The factory system uses an amplifier. These amplifiers are NOT compatable with anything besides what is on it. Furthermore the musical quality of said stock amps are no good.
There is no other acceptable alternative. Either run new speaker wire to the selected 4 locations or deal with the BOSE system.

Are we sure that my car is utilizing a BOSE amp? - It is a 99' I30 - the Bose amp can be found on the Infiniti G35 Rear, left side of trunk - The largest speaker in this car is the 2 in the rear 6.5 inches - there are 2 speakers in the front doors - 2 tweeters on the door frame - 2 in the back behind the rear seats - I am not sure there is an AMP involved as I have not been able to find it - I don't know if that really is going to change my situation much - others have recommended new wiring to accomadate for the new speakers & their power needs
If I go w/a pair of highend/decent quality component - should I run these speakers off of the head unit? Or should I be installing a 4 channel AMP? I have never run new wire just for this situation what is going to be the most professional way to setup the:
- Pioneer deh 6500 HU
- Replacement 2 front/2 rear speakers | Should I be considering a 4 channel amp for the new speakers?
- Rockford Fosgate 2 Channel 5200 AMP & RF P2 12" Subs
- XM setup | XM direct/Skyfi receiver

-If you are unsure if your car has the Bose amp, then look thru the owners manual or check some forums that are specific to your car.
-If you do go with a high end quality component set, you will def. want to get an amp to power them.
-As for the deck and speakers, that will be good, just consult the 'good, bad, and ugly' list.
-As for the subs, if you only want loud than look into rockford. I have personally owned rockfords and they didnt have good sound quality. so maybe look into something else. Just give us a price range to help ya.

Im about 95% sure its got an amp. Chances are high it doesnt look anything like an aftermarket amp, its probably hidden too.
Running the wire isnt bad. It just takes a bit of time...

I know a person who deals wholesale car electronics, I will be going through them to save some money however they are dealing - Pioneer, JVC, Audiobahn, and Clarion... I am wanting to pickup a set of component, set of coaxial, and a 4 channel AMP - do any of the manuf produce high quality? What would you recommend

Clarion will be your best bet here...Look into the DCD series... AVOID AUDIOBAHN AT ALL COSTS!!!
JVC puts out some killer headunits for cheap. My AR7000 was $250 ish :P

Clarion - do they produce any component setups - their website isn't that impressive but I have been able to find this model: SRS 1325 Component - have any info about Clarion component? Tell me more about the DCD series (models - websites?)
big thanks to Ryan for the help

I found the DCDs on www.mmxpress.com
DCD is Clarions top of the line speakers. Which truthfully are not to much of top of the line when compared to others.
But with the brands listed as the only options they are your best bet IMO.

Wow I have finally achieved disassembling my factory console and removing my BOSE factory head unit - what a pain in the ass - out of the whole stupid metra NISSAN multikit I used one piece - the face plate assembly - everything looks decent however I do have a lil pocket under my deck now.. - maybe I can sit a jewel case or two in there or maybe my ipod.
Before I do much else I have to make a big decision - how to setup my XM - I already have a bracketron bracket/SkyFi receiver/AUX bus input/ from my last car - so I can either setup the bracket, skyfi and all that or I can go XM direct - which sounds like more work - XM direct tuner + the Pioneer add on for the setup
- Using an external IRD has its benefits like switching to a diff source like CD/AM - FM while keeping your XM IRD running - this is really convenient you can switch to one of these diff sources while XM is on commercial - less work - less money - I still need a new antenna though - just thinking about it I am kindof leaning towards the external XM...
I also would like to get a setup for my IPOD - there seems to be alot of FM modulation + docks - from my first experience w/the DELPHI modulator it sucked, poor quality - same story w/an IPOD ? I am liking this product here due to the fact I can add it on later - no extra headaches w/wiring or anything - what are your thoughts on the XM and Ipod issue?

Today I will finish wiring the headunit and start running the amp kit - I will be need to remote turn on from my deck to: connect into the factory harness to turn on the power antenna & also run the remote to the trunk to power a 2 channel & 4 channel amp - Crutchfield recommended an E5000 relay - will this be neccessary or would it be ok to splice a remote line from the HU to the trunk - splice it again to each AMP?

Just splice it or run the remote turn on lead in series between your amps.
