I know I know, I am not actually doing the install myself. But I designed it, and my friend is doing it, so I have to take a little credit. :bigwink:

The second and third pics are the start of the deck install. When its finished there will be an Eclipse 8455 installed with a fiberglass peice closing off the rest of the opening. The best part is the flip down door will still be operational. Keeping with the stock look of the interior.

Very nice looking.

But do you have access to your spare tire? And what are the basic low-down on your system? (components, subwoofers, equalizers, etc.)

Thanks, its weird designing a stereo with just pics to look at. Especially when you want a clean install, and your used to doing it yourself. I'm lucky I have good friends I trust. It made it alot easer to explain exactly how I wanted everything.

Yes I will be able to axcess the spare, than center panel on the floor is removable. That was a must since I will be doing alot of travel.

The stereo

head unit = Eclipse 8455
changer = Eclipse 3083
Front sound stage = Focal Utopias 165W
rear fill = N/A
Sub = JL 12W7
Amps = 2 JL 300/2 biamped on the Focals
1 JL 1000/1 on the sub
Enclosure = 1.375 cube sealed box / firing thru the back deck /
Plexi front so you can see into the box when the
back seat is droped
Alarm = Clifford G5 750 IQ with intel start
Sound deadoning = hushmat thru entire car
007 style = the lock on the back seat was removed so the sub
could be installed. Since I still wanted the back seat
secure the alarm was tied into a soleniod to unlatch
the back seat

Yep your right. 2005 honda accord ex coupe with the factory performance package, and the nav system.

Since someone moved it (thanks for the warning) I had to do some upgrading. So there are new pics at the bottom.

How thick is that plexiglass? It looks awfully thin.

I can tell that is going to come out fricken sweet!

That isn't plexi its lexan, and it 3/4 inch thick. Its kinda deceiving in the pic, but I can tell you it doesn't flex. Thanks Will, it sounds fucking amazing. Especially once I got the EI/serv stuff working and got my EQ and all the time delay stuff going. I was going to take some pics, but I ran out of time, and then got sick right before I had to drop it off at port.

lol, good...

For a second there it looked like 1/8" lmao

Is the neon inside the box? If so does it act funny due to pressure or lack of?

JeremyC
05-14-05, 02:09 PM
Actually I went with LEDs just in case, not neon. I wasn't sure if neon could handle a 12W7 with a 1000/1 so I went with the LEDs instead. Looks pretty cool at night. It gives the Lexan a blue tint, but it lights up the magnet and sub in its natural color. Don't ask, I have no clue how, but it does. :confused

My baby, is finally here. Yep, they pulled her off the boat last week, and I got to pick her up yesterday. So here are the finished pics. I do have a little bit of cleaning and stuff to do to finish up the final look (paint the screw heads, and vacume), but other than that I am finished for a while.

Jeremy, sweet install. I've been following it for a few weeks now. I can see the red power wire in your first tweeter pic, you should tuck it behind the carpet. :bigwink: Just giving you a hard time. I'm envious, very nice system and install.

Looks good, but use 3m Super 77 spray glue instead of staples next time.

Actually they make better. The 3M stuff is good, there is better out there. I forget the name, but it comes in a quart or larger sized can, and you use a spray gun to spread it. If you want me to find out what it is let me know.

So were are the staples anyways? There are a few screw heads I need to touch up, on the trim peice of the amp rack, but the only staples are on the back side of everything.

super77 comes in spray cans. use it at home without buying an air compressor and a spray gun, then having to clean all that crap up afterward for one box.

unless you build boxes all day long 5 days a week, stick to the super 77

Looks absolutely FANTASTIC! One question though? Why mount the tweeters down so low? Doesn't that hurt the sq?

JeremyC
07-20-05, 08:39 AM
Actually no. I learned that trick with my S10. I ended up putting the tweets in the kicks about 5 inches forward of the mid. It took me about a month of playing, but once I found the sweet spot, no one could pin point were they were. They honesty sounded like they were mounted alot higher in the dash.

When it came to the Accord, I tried the factory location in the dash, man it was terriable. I even played with alot of spots on the doors, not much better. So I decided to play with the kicks for a few days. Jackpot, by setting the tweets down there it alows them to blend perfectly with the mid, and keeps them at the same distance from your ear as the mid. It even added a ton of depth to my sound stage. With them up higher everything was up close, and smothered. Adding that extra distance made a huge diffrence. Keep in mind we are talking about the Focal Utopia tweets here, they are very picky about were you install them, but you take your time and find the sweet spot, man they sound amazing.

Bleh on youand your "Too-much-money-havingness" haha. I'm 17 so I can't exactly go blowing 1200 on a set of components at the moment. :-P
ANYWAY, I guess I'll look into buying a set of kick panel enclosures for my Ranger...is it really worth the money?
here's the one's I'm looking at:

Only problem is...it says I gotta move the parking brake over 3". Well that'd be fine if there wasn't a clutch pedal 2 1/2" over--lol

Trust me man this is my first stereo I could just go out and get. All the others were peiced together, and upgraded as I found another friends install to do, or came across extra money some where. Plus my car and stereo were presents to myself for making seargent in the Air Force my first time testing, and doing a year in korea. Don't worry though, you caught the bug, and when you hit my age you will be doing the same thing. Oh yeah 1200, hah. One thing I learned very early, there is always somewhere cheaper $650 at woofersect.com

heh. Congratulations on your Air Force accomplishment!!! I just bought some Infinity Perfect 6.1's so I'm happy with those.
