Alright so starts the project log of my trunk. I am taking out the Honda cardboard "floor" and replacing it with a sheet of MDF, this sheet will be screwed into a couple 2x4s that will be bolted to the trunk.

I have to be able to access the spare tire so I cant make a false floor and put the amps flush in the floor, so Im building them on top of the floor.

Day 1 -

To Access the spare tire properly I had to make some sort of hinge system in the floor. So i traced the Honda cutout of the floor onto MDF, and cut it out with a Jigsaw. Then using cardboard as a guide to get an idea, I figured out where I needed to put the hinges to be able to get to the spare. You can see my incredible skills iwth the jigsaw in this pic ;) oh well, gotta learn somehow!

Here is a shot with the hinges in action:

And here is the soon to be floor of the trunk:

Next I started making the enclosure for the amps. The enclosure will hold a Kicker Kx 1200.1 and a JL 300/4. The Kicker is a huge amp so the enclosure takes up quite a bit of space. Its about 5" tall, and 24"/26" wide and long respectively. Here is the acrylic/plexiglass stuff that will go over the enclosure:

its not blue, its just covered in blue plastic :)

and here is the enclosure on the floor, test fitting the Kicker, the JL is still under my seat in the old install, haven't removed it yet.

That's Day 1, I will be doing as much as I can tomorrow, probably routing the holes for wiring tomorrow, do pretty much everything I can until I get the wire. Thanks for looking !

Looks like its goona be sweet. Don't know if you plan on it or not, but you will probably want to vent that amp box. Especially with the plexi over it because it will get hot enough inside to melt or deform that plexi if it is used for any lengthy periods of time, just ask Justin about it, plus not to good for the amp. Keep the pics coming.

yeah actually my fans arrived today, two stingers, they arent too loud, and they move quite a bit of air so that should be good.

Day 2 -

Today I started making my box. I believe it's somewhere around 1.2 ft^3, cant remember the exact number. Here's a couple of the cutouts, piece on the right is not going to be used.

felt very weird piecing this box together and then trying to imagine it holding a 55lb sub...

I also placed the JL where it will go, beneath the kicker and here's a pic of where the x-overs will go...what do you think, the screens on them or off?:

Next I sort of sketched where I need to drill for wiring to come through, im so accurate with my wiring diagrams :thumbsup :

close-up of the JL, it has a couple harsh scratches on the top, but its not an amp I plan on selling in the future so im not too worried

tomorrow I will probably put the box together and install the sub inside. some guy messed up my order so I cannot wire because my 2awg hasn't arrived yet. and nobody in town carries 2awg, just 4 and 1/0. I will also install the fans, bolt the 2x4's to the car, and maybe mount the false floor.

thanks for looking.

I would leave the screens on the crossovers, for protection basically. I think all you need is some polish/wax on the amp. I would shine it up nice once you have everything installed.

Day 3 -

Today I put the sub box together, Im not sure if its going to be permanent, i made the box pretty quickly, im jsut going to see how I like the XXX in a smaller box.

heres what it looks like in the trunk:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v104/lotas/100_0672.jpg

its about a mm (literally) from hitting the top of the trunk in the back. if you fold down the seats in the cab here's what it looks like, its so tight I couldnt even see light from outside when trying to look through the crack to outside the trunk. prolly hard to tell from this pic, but:

Next I carpeted my amp rack, and installed the fans!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v104/lotas/100_0676.jpg

here's a pic of what the amp rack looks like with the box. I didnt anticipate they would be this close, there is enough room even if the sub is at its xmax, but I dont know if I like how it will look, i may have to do something about it.

and just for fun here's the CDT's that will be powered by the JL 300/4:

thanks for looking.

shrink those images please
there's a problem when I run 1600x1200 res and still have to scroll sideways to see the image.
don't post images larger than say, 800x600 at the absolute largest on here unless its just a link to each picture.
it takes forEVER to load these threads..

thank you and have a nice day

i vote ban for this NathanScott guy already... dude.. you may not be reviving old posts on purpose.. but seriously.. FUCKING-QUIT-DOING-IT.. no one gives a shit about what you have to say when you revive an old post.. if you want to up your post count to be able to do whatever.. then make a THREAD about yourself in the bio section, and reply to NEW threads that arent over like a moth old or something.. also.. your "nice" "looks good" is obvious that you are doing it to raise your post count.. you could say why its nice, why it looks good..etc.. fuck man.
