Currently have the JBL 80.4 BP amp, which puts out about 160x2 @<hidden> 4 ohms bridged. This amp is slightly underrated but not a lot. Im currently running a set of 6.0s diamond hex components (rated for 50-150watts per channel) and a set of Diamond 6x9's connected to the RAF channel on the hex's crossovers. The 6x9's are rated for about the same amount of power as the componants.

I just purchased the 3 way upgrade kit (6 inch woofer) for my Hex set. I called up the diamonds tech support to find out how much power I should throw at this 3 way wall of sound and the guy told me that 300+ will make these speakers sing. So, with about $400 to spend on an amp, I need a good HIGH sound quality amplifier that delivers 300Watts into 2 channels. So either a really good 2 channel amp or a good 4 channel to bridge into the needed wattage.

I would love an Arc 4150 XXK or CXL but from a dealer its way to expensive, and my max bid on ebay was beaten. So im kinda looking for something with great sound quality but less then $400. Im willing to buy off ebay etc, so prices around 500-600 could become 400 or less online.

I've been looking at the Diamond D6600.4, but I heard that newer diamond amps are not as good as the old ones. Apparently the old ones were designed by Jeff whatever who does ARC. Anyone confirm deny this?

a used Orion 2250SX or XTR2250 :)
rated for 250wRMS x 2 @<hidden> 4 ohms. They put out more than that really. especially @<hidden> 14.4VDC using an unregulated power supply.

I use one to drive a DynAudio System 360 3-way front stage myself and it works wonderfully.
