not much sound amplified??

so i finally hooked up my eclipse amp to my diamond comps.. well, one side.

im playing them but they dont seem to be playing very loud. they were cutting off and shutting the amp off but i think the reason for that was the metal touching on the wires. fixed that. now i have my tweeter hanging out of my door sitting on the dash LOL. any idea why it doesnt sould very loud? i noticed that it was much cleaner... but not much else. gains? bass boost? hp/lp filter? i will toy around with that tmrw, but any suggestions or possibilities will be greatly appreciated.

Look at the setting on the radio...

Also what is the RMS for the speakers and what is the amps rating?

RMS is 100-120, amp is being run at 2 ch, 140wRMS

for a normal application, how much should the gain be set at?

turn the gain up about a quarter turn from minimum. set filter to high pass, and set frequency to around 80-120Hz. see how it sounds.
