I decided to go with a 600.1 JBL GTO amp and now im looking for a good 300w. SQ sub for under 200 dollars. Im planning on getting 2 but can only afford 1 right now so i am looking for either a DVC 2 or SVC 4 model so i can run it # 300w on this amp.
I listen to mostly rock-metal so i like a real punchy clean sound, but also like the lows to hit hard so im planing on using 10's but if yall think i should stick w/ 12's which is what i have now i would like to know.
The models i have in mind right now r
-JL 10w3
-PG tantrum 10" (i head the old PGs are really good and since they're discontinued they're cheap as hell)
-Alpine 10" TypeR
-Alumapro ALCHEMY 10" (Heard theyre a really good SQ sub, if anyone has used or heard these i would like your opinion. also all specs for this sub can be found here- http://www.woofersetc.com/product.asp?0=212&1=214&3=3459 if any of u well knowladged people could check these specs out and tell me what u think that would be great.)
thats all for now. any and all suggestions would be well appreciated :happy013:

we have something in common.. while i listen to rap.(usually only when theirs subs involved) i love Metal... from Black to Death Metal to Thrash to Hardcore...etc... i like to feel that punch and want a sub that can also "get down"... i have heard the JL W3's... and they are great subs.. although i have not heard the Type R, ive read and been told its a really great sub.. so id choose out of them 2.. but im leaning towards the W3 because ive heard it and it sounds great and can "get down".... also you should go with two 10"s or a single 12"... i listen to alot of songs with double bass and fast double bass, and i personally think two 12"s would just be way to sloppy... but two 10" JL W3's would satisfy you come to think of it... you will aso be really suprised by these subs if you havent ever heard them...
also to add Sound Domain is having some great deals on Infinity subs.. they would do the job too for you... but id still hit up the W3's.

they is nothing sloppy abotu 2 12"s if they are good if they are P1's or something they are sloppy. if i where you id check on ebay for an eclipse aluminum 10/12" very good sql sub. it will sound really good and still kick you in the back. a nice sealed box works great on them too. it would put that w3 to shame.

Check the for sale section. I have a pair of 12" Rainbow Vanadium subwoofers for sale. They are the ultimate SQ subwoofers. They retail at $500 each, I just want $300 shipped for the pair.

Take a look at some Boston Acoustics G2's. I've heard their 12's and they hit low and go fairly loud. I think they sound pretty darn good for $130.

x2. Gunna be hard to find a better deal than that. But really, for $300 I doubt you'll be able to beat those Rainbows. Although I don't have any experience with them myself, their name is big in the SQ scene. If you can't swing the $300 then go with the Atlas'.

2 10" w6's will pound pretty hard with decent s/q for rock and metal. A friend has those they sounded real nice with metalica and stuff of that nature, not my type but the bass was good. He had a 500wrms memphis power refference amp running them. That amp and those subs can all be picked up off of ebay. I would go with the rainbow's though if i had the room. If Justin says there good, and rainbow has a HUGE name when it comes to S/Q, how could you go wrong, and there cheap lol.

take it from a personal Metal head.... a 15" is too sloppy.. yes there is subs like the Tempest and stuff.. it does good, but i listen to metal everyday.. screaming, riffs, fast beats...etc...etc... but do not just go with my advice but i know the boat you're in..... two 10"s or a 12" would be fine.. if you dont want loud bass but be able to feel the kick and still be able to listen to some rap and "feel it" too and be heard(if that matters)... two W6's would be awesome too.... but it is really up to you... i have two 10"s, each is gettin around 150rms... and it does just fine.. but two W3's would still be killer... or a 12" W6.. as i said its up to you though.... the other brands are good brands, so check into them, im just going by what subs i have personally heard on metal..

*cough* Rainbows *cough*
If I had the moolah right now I'd drop it on those subs so quick it would make my head spin.

Power handling is meaningless when looking between subs. You just need to power each sub *correctly*
Say both subs are totally identical except sub A requires 5000 WRMS where sub B requires 100 WRMS
Powered with the required RMS both subs will yield the same dB.
BTW Rainbows are world renowned for their superior SQ.

But that is given only if all other variables are the same.
