I have an 18" Beyond Audio inhuman subwoofer that I bought from ebay. When I recieved it the seal between the basket and spider was broken and I have just reglued it with CA glue. The glue worked great and holds good. I have it hooked up to an Earthquake 200DHC Mark II amp (2200 watts rms @<hidden> ohm). I do not have a proper box for it yet, but I tested it out without a box. The problem is that it has a sort of distorted sound to it almost like a scraping sound. Im wondering if this is most likely just because it is not in a box or if it may have something wrong with it. If it does have a problem with it Im not sure if I want to have a box built for it just yet. Is their any way of knowing if theirs a problem or a way to test it without the use of a box? Also Im wondering what kind of box size and dimensions would be the best for this sub? One last thing I would like to know is an approximate value and retail value of this sub when in good working condition. Im pretty sure it has dual soft spiders and dual 2 ohm copper voice coils. Anyone known specs would also be useful. Here are some pics of the sub if that helps at all. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Scraping noise is not good. Probably the former of the VC against the back pieces OD...

Possibly might not be aligned correctly before you reglue it...

As for value in perfect working order I would say $250-300 would be a high price. Fair price around $200...

You cant get recones for these easily. So if you blow it its probably gone for good...

Thats nothing.

Looks like someone puked on the floor. Gotta love the late 60's early 70's carpet...

I'd return the sub. the seller on eBay sold you a blown sub.
