Hi everyone, this is Andy. Been in the car audio scene since 1992. Took a long break from 1995 until 2005. Holy Moly, has the industry changed. Anyways, I used to install for Pro Audio of Wyoming. Had a great time doing that. Would like to catch up with a few of the old skoolers on here and some of the new skoolers and get myself back up to speed. Hey, have a good one and if you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me. I'll be around. Laters

hey whats wrong with a mid life crisis?? thats it i'm going out to my the corevett and leather jacket right now. lol

anyways i would considermyself from the old school. been doing this since mid 80's. also like you came back into things a few months ago. the nice thing is although the brands have changed most of the rules have not so it was not to hard to jump right back into things. wait till you get ahold of some of the newer style "super subs". some nice stuff out there now adays

That'd have to be me Pre Ol' school, back when radio was what everybody had at a massive 25 watts of pure power. When Pyle came out with the original driver... It was love at first sight:thumbsup

P.S. As far as the oldlife (not midlife) goes I went past the Vette and straight to the Stealth R/T:)
To many old muscle cars in my past for a corvette to impress me much, rather have a V-6 that will put a beating on a Vette:happy055:

Welcome to the best Car Audio place on the planet!

have you seen the remake of the challenger yet? i really like what they did with it. kept it very much the same and did not mess with the lines at all.

Actually that's kinda a funny subject.
I was never into the old Mopars, but something about the newer stuff I really like. The new Challenger (to me anyway) looks 100 times better than the old one. I was always one more towards the GM products (in the past: 4 Firebirds (3-Trans Ams), 4 Camaros (2-Z28's, 1-RS, 1-Berlinetta), 2 Monte Carlos (3 if you include my present daily driver), 3 Olds (1-Cutlass, 1-442, 1-Hurst/Olds), and the list goes on.

Now though I can really appreciate newer technology and the whole "Tuner Scene". Told my wife that if they tell me I'm approved for a GT-R when they get over here... I AM bringing one home.

Well I just got my new dentures fitted today, thought I catch up on the forum before my afternoon nap and Ensure shake, and low-n-behold, another couple of Old School stereo people here too. I started back in 83 with my first system, competed in 88, got whooped, then got serious back in 93. Competed Pro SQ+ in IASCA for 4 years, then quit..now I am back.

Terry, I am only 39, so I wouldn't say I am the oldest, but sometimes I feel like it with you diaper-wearing young bucks out there. Still looking forward to your pull-ups and peeing in the toilet like a big boy!

Welcome to the site, I hope we can help you, and I am sure you can help us out the same.

Joe

lol , except for some like me that need the grown up diapers. I guess it "Depends" on how you look at it:p

I would agree on that one, plus it is best that you get the diapers for boys rather than girls...I have made that mistake with my nephew once....

glad to have you here man. i guess i fall into the "new school" group here, having only a couple decades of life under my belt. got into car audio about 5 years ago, first system was a 10" bazooka tube and a "500w" bazooka amp, found these guys a few years later and re-learned everything i thought i knew. now, like anyone else, i still learn something new every day. hope you like it here

back in the 80s, and early 90s, I used Cerwin-Vega 12" subs, and Orion mids, tweeters, amps, and signal processing. Alpine deck and EQs.
I miss those days in a way.

The original Cerwin-Vega strokers were just one of the subs that set the stage for professional competition... Definately good ol' days.

remeber that dodge truck that was owned by some chic that hit a record with the 4 stroker 12's?? thats was very early 90's. for the time it was a crazy set up

CV Strokers... Haven't heard about those in a long time. Deffinately some of the loudest subs made back then. I was big on Alpine head units and eq's, Orion, PPI and Lanzar amps; still using my old Opti Drive Plus amps, CV and Eclipse highs, mids, and mid woofers, and CV, Lanzar and B-52 subwoofers. Eclipse made some nice head units too as I recall.

First car stereo: 1991 - as a consumer

Nakamichi head unit - don't remember the model number
Cousitc crossover - XM-3
PPI amps - 1 Sedona 450ix and 2 Sedona 2300ix
Stillwater Designs component sets - 6.5 and tweets in front, 4 and tweets in back
Stillwater Designs Subwoofers - 2 SVC Kicker Comp 15's

That was a fun stereo. A little loud on the bottem end but it was fun.

Nakamichi was the sh!t back in the day, when the rest of us were running the original super tuner by Pioneer.
By the way Strokers are back, bigger and badder than back in the day with the Stroker Pro-15 and Pro-12 pushing 2500w rms as the new Vega flagship subs.
