you're not really gaining anything with a CAI, and unless it's an isolated CAI where ther cone filter sits in a box separating it from the engine compartment, and uses an active hood scoop for a true cold outside ai intake, you're actually going to lose power by sucking in hotter air from around the engine, as opposed to the factory setup pulling in outside air through the box designed to baffle some engine noise as well.
CAIs for the most part on gasoline engine vehicles, are a scam.
They aren't of as much benefit as the old ram air systems were for carbureted engines, since cars with EFI use MAF sensors to adjust throttle, fuel, and air these days.
good luck with that though.
If you want a power increase, save your money and buy a whipple supercharger for the engine if it's it's a straight mounted V block.
If it's transverse mounted, go with a centrifugal supercharger setup instead.

^I agree. Boost is the most HP you're going to get for your dollar. Modern cars are squeezing about as much power as they can for the given requirements anyway. If the factory could have found more power with no harm to emissions or fuel economy, they'd have gotten it out of the engine already. You don't think they'd waste money on that big plastic box leading to the fenderwells if it didn't gain them anything, do ya? ;)
The Kenne Bell/Whipple twin screw superchargers are the best s/cs for a street driven setup IMO. Massive boost and power output the second you step on the throttle, with most cars you're getting full boost by 2000-2500 rpm and keeping it past 6500 or so. Centrifugals suck anywhere below peak RPM. Great for racing b/c they're efficient, but they lose everywhere else.
Then there are turbos, usually more expensive but they make more power than a supercharger by the time they're spooled up.

well last month i drove out of town for a day and let me tell you throttle at higher speeds 75 to 85 it had a really hard time getting to that speed. i did put the stock air set up back on but after i got a performance resitor i can say it works in all speeds and quicker throttle. and i put my k&n filter back in to. sense my 95 don`t have iat sensor i had to wire it in line to the map sensor.

If your looking for a small HP boost, for a small amount of green, and intake is definitely the way to go. But the more expensive brands don't always mean that they'll work best on ur car. An intake is an intake, brand really shouldn't come into the equation.

CAI + Exhaust will be you best bet for the least amount of money. And saty away from those ebay mod chips!!! And the other gimmics they try to sell.
hahaha those stupid little resistors they get from radioshack then tell you to jam in your IAT sensor? hahaha
man those ebay people are awful
the worst thing is when they sell those "electric turbos" which are just computer case fans

...I know they don't work, but they're a LITTLE bit more than Computer case fans....
