I'm Garin. If you've seen Doodaddy post anywhere it's 99% chance it's me. :)

I mostly post over at CAF and the secondskin forum, but as of late I've been looking around to take up some time. I think I'll like this site.

Thanks for the welcome. ;)

Also, I didn't realize there was such a delay on creating a thread, there should be an identical thread popping up pretty soon, if one of you moderator dudes want to clean it out, have at it. :D

Welcome to the forum!

Glad you found us!
Ya, this particular sub forum, has to be mod approved first. Just to keep things on subject. I'll look and delete any dup. posts if I see it.

Chris.

Cool - is that you playing the bass?
I used to play bass guitar myself. Of course if you are familiar with my posts and my relationship to car audio, you probably won't be surprised to learn that I grew frustrated with my inability to perform at the level of Les Claypool (Primus). :p
My father ran a music studio and taught guitar lessons (I took lessons from one of his teachers), and I was always into the rock, metal, and punk music scene growing up, so I think that's pretty cool that you play bass.

5-string too, I always wanted one of those. That's not one of those John Myung models, is it?

Yes I seen the dbl and eliminated it.

I kinda took off the modertain deal also guys ;)

We did mod approval first as for a bit there two many people came in, introduced themselves then asked questions. Which this section isnt about. its about the person, not the system.

So anyhow hopefully you stick around a bit. With CAF down Im expecting more to maybe stop in here. The conversations here seem to be a little more relaxed, on topic and less BS like CAF.

Good to see another guitar (bass) player around here. We need more of those around :)
@<hidden> geo: John Myung is the man on bass! He's just a little over obssessed with that infinity symbol on it...

"Over obsessed" for sure...

I saw a Dream Theater special of some sort on TV, and they were actually defending their music to those who accuse them of just writing certain arrangements just for the virtue of pushing the technical/difficult envelope rather than for musical sake. :p

I never really thought of it in those terms.

Yah that's me on the bass. It's a Yamaha RBX-775, nothing super special, but it gets the job done.

I love the 5 string. I actually started out on it and it's incredibly awkward to play a 4 string, so I basically refuse to. :p

It's nice to see other people that actually play bass. I never would have guess Geo did. Is there anything you don't do? lol :p

I used to play bass - about 10 or so years ago. no time anymore. :(
Play it while you are still young. :)

I used to have this very cool hollow-body classic Gretsch bass from the '60's that was actually (and still is) my father's, part of his collection, back when Gretsch made high-end guitars in their glory days (my father's daily guitar for the past 40 years is a Gretsch White Falcon, believe it or not! He was a dealer). It had a starburst stain to it, and looked somewhat like this one:
http://www.poweralley.com/Gretsch%20G6072%20Long%20Scale%20Hollow%20Body%20Bass%20Guitar.htm
...although no doubt that's a cheapie reissue - the stain doesn't even have much color on that "reissue". And mine had a pick-guard, and thumb-rests, etc. it looked quite a bit different, nicer, perceivably.

Someday I'll have time again. I hope.
