It's an aggressive pearl, yeah. The color shifts as you walk past it, too.. very neat to see in person. Pictures just don't do well at showing what it looks like. It'll look better when I can get it out in sunlight and all reassembled, and get the paint buffed and polished. That's just fresh clearcoat in the pics. Unbuffed or polished.

Thats a tight color on that model Charger. What year is that? 1967? Put some rally wheels on that bad boy w/ some cheater slicks, and u'll be all set. What kind of HP does that thing pull anywayz?

Phew! You are brave going with such a dark color!
Of course, for a nice show car it's not a big deal... clean all the time, babied I'm sure.
But I had a black daily-driver car once upon a time... and I absolutely love black, but I swore "never again" - every little bit of dust, every imperfection, every nick or ding shows up like it has a big neon blinking arrow pointing to each spot.
Looks nice so far - let's see the pics after buffing!:sm29:

it's a '66, and sitting on ARE torquethrust II polished 15x10" wheels in back with 315/50R15 MT drag radials.
my sig denotes the output. over 650RWHP and torque.

Geo, yeah hard to keep clean, but it's getting wet sanded now, and it's kept covered and only comes out on nice days. I fell in love with that blue paint the moment I saw it, so that was pretty much a done deal for me.

Blue is my favorite color, and I didn't even know a paint that looked that good came in blue. Now I have another color to paint my car, 69 Barracuda. I thought I had it all picked out and then I just saw your pics. BTW, the color I was dead set on for a couple months now is Prowler Orange Mopar color only on Prowlers and some Vipers. But I could have sworn I've seen the same color on a PT cruiser. Before that it was Deep Amethyst Pearl, I believe that is the name, which I saw painted on a Duster at a car show. It look 100X's better than what you see a production cars.
BTW, Glass what is that color called?

It's a current chrysler color, just slightly tweaked.
The base color is called "Midnight blue pearlcoat"
you can find it on grand cherokees, caravans, and 300s
very dark color. pops in sunlight, looks black at night, and shifts color as you change viewing angles.. (the aggressive pearl)
lay it on well, give it a good wet sanding, and it'll gleam.

Is all the wet sanding the slight tweak you mentioned? I do some paining, but don't have the facilities to do a car, so I do know how to wet sand.

wet sanding is just a stage in painting. im sure the tweaking is just adjusting the color or making it a tricoat or something along that line.

yeah I just played a little with the color base and the pearl.
pearl comes in different size flakes, making it more or less aggressive depending on your goal.

A guy I know that has a 68 Mustang painted his in a Chrysler blue, Patriot Blue if I remember correctly. Really, really dark, looked good though.
I think I've seen the one you're talking about on 300s though, looks good in sunlight.

Hey Y'all thinking of letting my first car ever go
1969 camaro project (needs a motor)
minor rust paint still good
has 373 rear end only used for 100 miles as well as new strange axles
muncie 4 speed transmission
stainless Steel brand front disc brake conversion
decent interior needs some TLC
front clip modifies to hing forward to for easier motor work
Enkie rims
clean title in my name ready to transfer
will need a lockset as I had it at an old friends house for storage and he LOST the keys. I do have title and proof of ownership though before anyone trys to claim it stolen.
Make an offer I'm not sure what its worth in it's current condition but look at the current market if you want your offer to be seriously considered, rediculus lowballs will be completley ignored.
if you want any other pictures let me know.

I hate honey gold on old musclecars, it's disgusting. That would definately have to change. Nice project otherwise, I just tend to prefer darker colors on older cars, tends to compliment the lines of the cars better and make the chrome stick out that much more.

I believe we used either PPG or DuPont. I forget now honestly, since I'd changed my choice on the color numerous times before I finally settled on a Chrysler factory color (midnight blue pearlcoat) and tweaked it slightly.
It's been shot now, we just got the doors, hood, trunk lid, fenders etc back on the car, and now it's getting wet-sanded, then shot with clear again (2 coats) then buffed and polished out.
It should be done this week, and I'll get some pics of it for ya.
I've been too busy with other stuff lately to do much with the car (dialysis, and the access I have is clotted so I have to go in for surgery today.)
That aside though, the car is nearly finished now. I'm about to send some of the chrome out for rechroming.
This car has been in the body shop for the paint since March 2006 (over a year) as it was a 'side project' and I had it stripped down, and did the bodywork as I had time.
also forgot to mention, the links/site don't work because I lost my site's host unexpectedly, so I'm in the process of moving the site to a new host. I guess I should hurry up and get that done here PDQ.
