and before you guys say it i know there is way more to a sub than what i posted. im working on that math and properties with a well known company.
not tc sounds.
excusion > 2in
rms power > 5kw
more to come
everything on this sub is custom right down to the 1345oz magnet.
i can get pics of other views if you wish also

Thats cool. How long until you get a prototype? Is this the sub we saw pics of the other day in your guess it thread?

So this beast will be the best SQ performer out there eh?
:P
haha actually i designed it for bass race competiton so it plays music well and still has plenty of spl. well because everything is custom its gonna take some time to get a prototype. the basket is made of cast magnesium.

well, you know who your buddies are right...I might even be willing to consider a bassrace or streetbeat (USAC) car out of my wife's suv
did some calculations and the woofer weights a whopping 147 lbs. :surprised
might have to take some of the magnet away lol

I've never seen a basket like that. It's similar to the DD basket, but with 5 spokes.
Have you thought about cooling? I don't know much about subs, I'm just curious with a basket like that. :p
I'm ready to see a prototype. :)
the basket design is custom designed by me thats y no one has seen it and patent pending. there are internal cooling vents that are also patent pending. what do you guys think of the color sceme?

I like the colors, but maybe just outlined WP rather than the block lettering, just my 2 cents:)
i dont like red baskets, but other than that it is a sub thats for damn sure.......
its either this color grey (no paint) or a dull blue color. and thank you for pointing out that its a sub terry. lol

That cast basket used to be very popular...
Then everyone moved onto the 12 spoke design...
Patent pending means you already submitted the invention for patent...
have fun with that...
I hear it costs $4K+ to patent...
u hear incorrectly and im not paying for it. and no one has this basket as i said its completly custom i designed it myself and its going to be made of magnesium i dont think they used that back in the day. also most companys dont use an odd number of spokes because it makes the tool more complicated.
I think it needs to be a bit heavier! How big is the voice coil, and what materials for the former and what not....
its either this color grey (no paint) or a dull blue color. and thank you for pointing out that its a sub terry. lol
i like no paint..espescially on magnesium, i like a raw look,
i meant that based on your description it is a damn big sub.....after rereading it though i realized my thoughts dont automatically type themselves
thanks man i like the raw look also.

Hell I just wish I had 12"...wait..are we still talking about subs?
I got me a 12 incher!! and two 6.5's and two 4's and two 1.somethin's
hahaha i wont come in 12 the magnet would be bigger than the woofer haha
hmmmm, that would pose some installation issues....no?

hmmm
Ive always wondered about the subs with holes on the back plate. Thats to pull the motor together outside the glue correct?
I wonder how it fluxes there, at the points where the holes are. At that point, there should be more magnetization, thus it would lead me to believe that point on the coil would be hotter...
Just a rambling thought.
the whole thing is customizable so we need the bolted back plate.

Thats awesome... Keep or updated!
I think we should all pitch in a donation for this subwoofer build. I want to c what it can do and considering I only live a few minutes from Bill, I most likely will!

Just went through all 5 pages. This sub looks like it'd be damned good. A 147lb sub with LEDs, hmmmmm.. hehehe.
Depending on price, I want 6 18" quad 1ohm subs with a very bright blue LED ring around them. Oh, before I forget, will they handle a XXX-6500 amplifier?
lol handle a xxx6500 it will handle the xx10000 strapped
Thats a pretty tall order

Thats a pretty tall order
It's a plan for a BIG A$$ SUB :happy055:
those amps will put out about 6500 strapped which the current FSQ can take no problem on a burp. so image what this could do
