So I decided Im going do a few things to the blazer before starting on the mustang, first thing being the exhaust.

So Im going to call the shop at 8am and see if they can get me in today, if so Im going to be gettin a full exhaust, y pipe back anyways. Then hopefully in about 2 weeks I can get headers, and then start on the motor work (new vortec heads (with p&p work) and a nice cam (along with a few other goodies.)

The question is, should I go with flowmaster or magnaflow?

On my old s10 I had a dual in single out catalytic converter, with single in dual out flowmaster org 40 series with 3" tips, it sounded nice...

But

Im thinking about magnaflow too, Im not sure what series of magnaflow they offer but Im really considering them...

Its a 91 s10 blazer with a 4.3 in it.. I know, most dont like exhaust on v6s but like I said, the old s10 sounded nice (it was a built 4.3)...

for the money i think the Magnaflow is a better deal, plus most of the time with Flowmasters, you end up sounding a little too loud... My cusin has 2 super 40s on his Elcamino and its louder than balls!

I like Magnas, esp. on 6 bangers. The Dynomax Ultra Flows are great too, especially for the power they add.

Flows sound great, but they've become so common that it's nice to hear something a little different every once in a while. Plus, Flows tend to have more cabin resonance than the aforementioned, though the 3 chambers/delta flows aren't as bad as the originals.

I use dynomax mufflers myself but I'd suggest you speak with the muffler shop guys and see what they recommend and why.
they know their stuff since it's all they do all day long.

I had a 3 chamber flow om my s10, and was very happy with it. Nice and quiet when your just setting there, but sounds great once you get on it.

I'd go with the Magnaflow, everyone has flowmaster, I really like the dynomax ultraflows because they are cheap. I also like the sound of the Goerlick Xcelerator, think that is how it is spelled. Anyway good luck almost anything can sound better that stock, unless you get the angry bee exhaust.

I run 3" exhaust from the manifolds back. No mufflers and three cats. Out to a pair of Polished Stainless Steel 3.5" expansion chambers. Very low and very deep, but not very loud. funny.

yeah I'm not so concerned with the exhaust note myself. the dynomax super turbos I use are big (20") and the full exhaust from primaries back is 3". I use hooker super comp tuned headers, no cats, and an X pipe. The car purrs when it's under normal throttle/idle. It roars when it's at WOT. The super turbos are cool because they're straight through, low restriction mufflers. No real resistance to speak of so no loss in power by using them.

PS I moved this to here because it seemed more fitting, but I left the redirect so people know.

This is gonna sound terrible, but I'm from the old school of thinking...
If you want the V6 to sound really tough... Throw some twin 2.5" catback to Cherry Bomb mufflers and top it off with 3 or 3.5" diameter tips 12-18 inches long.
I did that on my old S-10 with a 2.8 V6 and nobody would believe me that I had the little six until I popped the hood... They all swore it was at least a 350.
Just my 2 cents:p

I'm oldschool. If you want your car to sound like a V8, stick a V8 in it.

Yeah, its always going to sound like a 6er... Although my old s10 sounded almost like a v8 at an idle...

like stuffing a 426 hemi into an old A-body Dart.
bang out the fenders with a hammer, and cram it in.

I am wondering the same with my car. An older American 4 banger. I am wanting to avoid the ricer sound as much as possible which is why I refuse to have the coffee can look going on. But flowmaster or magnaflow? Like I said, a 4 banger, SOHC 2.3L

Shit, I just noticed that the explorer guy posted on as month old thread.

If i had my druthers, I'd have to go with the magnaflow. Its a tad bit cheaper than the flowmaster, but your still getting the same type of sound from the pipes.
