actually it's only a 20gb, and they aren't going for much anymore. I'll at least make $100, and sicne all I had to do was walk into Wal Mart and buy it, it is damn well worth it.

How'd you walk into wal mart and buy it? Did you just happen to walk in at the right time or somethin? I don't think any stores around here have had them since the release...atleast not to my knowledge..

Yeah I just walked in. I went in looking for a remote for my Wii, and there was just one sitting behind the glass. Got very lucky.

I LOOOVE my Wii, best purchase I have ever made. STORES ARE HOLDING THEM UNTIL SUNDAY. Seiously, all stores are releasing what they have on Sunday morning. If you don't line up a few hours early, you probably won't get one.

if someone doesn't bidsnipe it, its going for $600.

you know whats insane? the morons that list those emails.. "wiiwiitardo@<hidden>" for $249.. the guy selling them has like 30 for sale. he's going to end up being stuck with the ebay fees.... or hte people that want $70 to ship a wii UPS ground.. that thing weighs less than 2lbs, i beilve.. it probably wouldn't cost more than $30 over night.

Justin from Detroit

It' not less than 2 pounds, but they are charging more than necessary to ship it.

I'm charging $40 to ship the PS3, which seems like a lot, but most people are charging $70-100 to ship them.

Darthness

hrm.. according to walmart.com it was .3lbs :-p./. but either way... $70 to ship ground is insane. those SQXs were nearly 60lbs and cost $28 to ship with insurance and signature requirement.

what games did you get? i'm thinking of getting madden and splinter cell when i get mine.. btw, i wonder if it'll look alright on a 15" HDTV... best buy has them on sale right now :P COD3 looks alright but i'm not a huge fan of that type of game.. i had enough fun playing medal of honor for ps2

Save up and get a bigger TV. It doesn't have to be HD since Wii doesn't support HD, but may as well be since it is the future of TV ;)

I only bought Zelda. I have always been a huge Zelda fan and I figure why buy other games when this will keep me busy for probably near 100 hours or so (I really take my time and explore everything). Believe it or not, Wii Sports, the free game it comes with, is incredibly awesome. Me and my g/f are both totally addicted to it.

I have rented Madden and Marvel Alliance or whatever. Madden wouldn't let me throw a pass, so I got fed up and quit. Marvel was pretty cool, not worth buying for $50, though. The Wii is seriously the best system I have owned. I had a 360, and the Wii blows it out of the water for fun factor. Yeah, the 360 had better graphics, but I'd rather have fun than pretty.

yeah i'll probably just stick with the tv i have now.. its 20-22" but it'll work for a while... have you tried a fps yet?

Justin from Detroit
12-01-06, 10:37 AM
No, I haven't.

Hey keep in mind that extra controllers, nunchuks, and component cables are ust as hard to come by as the system itself. If you find a system ,ro don't for that matter, but find controllers, BUY THEM!

haha, sucks for getz(dude from 6s i think?), he got outbid in the last few seconds.

the 20GB are what? $500? so you made decently on that, eh?

Justin from Detroit
12-01-06, 10:58 AM
Getz was happy he lost. He sent me a message yesterday saying right after he bid he went out and found one in a store, so he was hoping he didn't win. I said he could cancel his bid but he said no he would feel bad. So he is quite happy he lost lol.

I figure I paid $530 with tax. So I made $140 plus whatever amount extra I get from shipping ;)

Not bad for having to do nothing lol

Darthness
12-01-06, 10:59 AM
yeah.

you going to share some of that money with me?

Justin from Detroit

Darthness
12-03-06, 11:42 AM
$250 is not too high for a wii :-p

yeah, one of the walmarts near me has 9 wii's... but they get 5 trucks a day, so maybe they'll get more by wednesday. i have a friend that works in electronics there so hopefully i'll have a slight edge, specially when it comes down to timing.

I see the auction is over.
I wouldn't buy a PS3 anyway.
I've even read reviews on the system that directly told readers not to!

The Xbox 360 has been out for a while now, has a solid platform, and tons of games. Hard to find fault with it.

The Wii is no more powerful than the last Xbox or PS2 I suppose, but the reviewers say it has lots of gaming developer support, and makes up for lack of power in innovative controls and game experience. It's also 1/3 the cost.

The PS3 is apparantly still buggy due to the accellerated pre-christmas-season release push, and hardly has any games for it available. "Wait a year" is what all the experts say.

Not to mention, releasing with a still non-standard drive technology (Blu-Ray) was best summed up by one review I read in the technology section of the newspaper: "...smells like Betamax." Argue all you want about any technical "superiority" of Blu-Ray - Beta was also technically superior to VHS. When was the last time you saw a Betamax player? Wait a minute, who developed the Beta format? Oh right, that was Sony also, wasn't it... :p
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betamax

History repeats itself - what sounds more marketable; what sounds less 'scary' to the technically unsaavy masses of the consumer market:
1) Blu Ray
2) HD DVD
I guarantee you, ask 10 random non-techie people, and you'll get #2 10 out of 10 times. Hey, it goes with their HD TV's, right? :D

Anyway, growing up, I had a family friend whose parents had a Beta DVD player, and invested in a lot of movies for it, and defended it to the end, talking about how 'technically better' it was... and eventually they couldn't rent movies anywhere, and we could.
...I don't know about you, but I don't want to be that guy. :p

And Sony developed the laser disc and mini disc technologies as well. We all remember what happened to those media formats...
Sony better market Blu Ray more effectively for it to be successful, and adding the capability to the PS3 was likely an excellent strategy. We'll know for sure in about 2 or 3 years.
