I bought these speakers to replace some Infinity Reference Coaxials. These speakers were given 75watts or so, from a Jl 300/4. Gains were about halfway. The amp was only given 2v for the preouts though from my HU. The first thing I noticed when they were in was the air that the midbass put out. I could feel my whole sidepanel vibrating to the beat, and i could feel my jeans/pants move from the air that was pushed when theyh it.
Sound: I really was blown away with the sound at first, but after i got used to the sound, the tweeter became harsh, and the midbass just was not loud enough. It couldnt keep up with the sub.
Quality: 8/10 The 6.5" speaker is built like any other speaker, its nice and sturdy. The Tweeter is sturdy as well. The Xovers are decently built...theres some cheap plastic on them and then they have sort of a "grate" that fits over the top (removable) but its sturdy enough.
Price: 10/10 These things are only $150, which is a big plus. This is definetly a good price for these speakers, I would reccomend them for $150, but I would also definetly look at RE components, another set for around 150 that could compete.
Install: 9/10 The speakers are semi-deep, I have to make MDF Baffles because when i rolled my window down all the way it would hit the magnet of the speaker. The tweeter comes with many install options, flush mount, angle mount, etc.
Pros-
Cheap price for good speakers
Nice loud, clean sound from midbass
Good sound with low watts (lots of comp. sets are around 150w rms)
Cons -
tweeter can be harsh ( i believe this set uses the metallic tweeter, others use the silk tweeter)
Xover screw heads are tiny, you need a tiny screwdriver :)
This is a real good speaker set for 150$... I would reccomend it, but I would warn you that you may want to upgrade later down the road if you bought these now. If you don't blast your music when you listen to it, you will be happy with these, good luck.
Overall : 7 / 10
These speakers are some of the best in their class
