Well heres my deal.

Ive got my old Sony shelf system Ive had now for like 9 years or so. Its got 100 WRMS @<hidden> 8 Ohms, so its fairly powerful. The CD changer doesnt work right anymore, needs cleaned/repaired maybe.

Anyhow, Im debating just getting a receiver, a CD player and building my own speakers/sub.

I would like to do a tower with some different sized speakers. I got a set of these:

And Im thinking of getting a second set of them.

Also a set of these for more mid bass area:

Then one of these per tower:

So 2 6" for mid bass duty only

4 5" for mid vocal area

2 Planar tweets to handle highs

Custom crossover.

Thinking the 6" speakers can be in a TL setup.

Looks like it could work. Where are you planning to cross everything?

Probably want to cross the planars at their recommended 3Khz @<hidden> 12db/oct. Looks like there's breakup/peak at 5Khz on both the Hi-Vi's because of the metal cones, so you'll want to keep the crossover point as low as you can get away with. Then play with crossover points between the 5" and 6".
And if the planars are that similar to ribbons, be careful with those. They'll fry pretty easily.

Would have to put in a 50A breaker JUST for the sub amps to power those lol.
