The one thing i love about Dodge is the fact that their warrantees cover absolutely nothing... My truck has been making some very loud noise for a while from its rear end... Dodge has reccognised that the Pinion bearings were faulty on dodge trucks and did nothing about it! Assholez! oh well it has to be done sooooo.

Im pretty sure that its the Pinion Bearing, so i want to have that replaced... I would like to do it myself but Dad says no lol... but anyway going to get that done. Secondly, i noticed that my Engine is starting to knock.... 105k miles on it... Im going to take of the valve covers when i come back home to take a look at it, Im pretty sure that there is something being shot around in there for some reason...

Thirdly, my rotors in the front are sooo worn and warped, so im putting new ones on... Guy said $200 for resurfacing, I said F that and am buying some new Cross Drilled and strait drilled rotors for $100 and doin it myself.

Clutch is going to but i dont think i can do that myslef... so im going to buy a clutch from someone for about $165 and have a mechanic install it, seeing as most the guys around here charge like $500 for a clutch install some guy even quoted me at $800!!! I have a frined who is a good mechanic who will only charge me for labor so im going with him....

All in all im saving money, but it was a necessary fix to my truck

Sounds like you drive it pretty hard... hehe

At times i have definitely driven it hard... No argument there but comparitively, this truck has been babied for a long time... we are the original owners on it from 96 till now... 11 years old, and its still running and only has 105k on it, which is pretty low for a truck that age...

Really the reason the Clutch is going is because all of me and my 2 other brothers learned how to drive stick on that truck, and trust me they suck at stick so they really f'd it up...

That Pinnion, im guessing is half my fault and half the factory,.... I have done a few Burnouts in that truck and ill be willing to take the blame on that going.... But the front brakes warping has really little to do with me. Dodge just doesnt make great Rotors on the 1500's especially the one that is the lowest line u can get.... (I dont even have Air conditioning, or power anything, well Power steering and brakes lol)

Also Ive had to have the Fuel Rail completely replaced b4 as well as injectors and the Serpentine belt, and Cat, All for $1600! Fuel Rail was Dodges fault again... It was rusting on the inside and clogging up the fuel system....

Cat shouldnt have gone that early either... Serpentine was badly alligned/ tightend from the factory, again Dodge's fault....

I know ur hearing a lot of negative from me about Dodge, but i do love my truck and woudnt trade it for anything! well cept a 2500 V8 Hemi with a 5 or 6 spd stick in it... prolly the 5 though lol...

so far.. front wheel bearings: $200 x2

once i get the chance i'm probably going to get the exhaust redone.. but that'll be aftermarket. and not just exhaust tips, i want the full deal :-d
system: i stopped counting.

i'm kind of glad i didn't go with a dodge though.

and the wheel bearings are extremely simple, thank god for that... ill do the rear breaks next.. or atleast check them.

Dang and I thought my car had problems.

Mine is a 95, so its what, 11 or 12 years old, and it only has 81k miles but I've never had to replace any of the drivetrain parts.

I drive it hard too. But then I've only had it for about 7k miles, and the previous owner was a dealership owner, so it probably got taken care of.

^^ so u would like to think... How many times have i seen Dealership vehicles pass me on the Highway doin like 100+ mph??? Lots of times... Those pricks drive around like they are God themselves, and they beat the shit out of those cars... They figure as long as it still "LOOKS NEW" then they can sell it.

just curious, what kind of gas milege are you getting on that ram, my dad's got a 97 ram 1500 single cab 2wd auto with 90k and after a recent tune up, and is only getting about 12-13 mpg city.....but unlike your truck, my dads truck just has some sensors and a serpentine that has broken....

Darthness

and yet, i wouldn't trade my blazer for an escort if you paid me to (by that i mean you paid my loan, then gave me the car plus cash)

changing just the pinion bearing will not work because once you take it out the clarences are off between the pinion&ring gear.you will break teeths off the gears best to have new ones put in by a rear end specialist.a month after i got my 95 yukon the seal was leaking at the pinion seal the used car garage fix it when i drove it seemed it was dragging i think they tighten a little more than it was after 6 months had noise i tought it was the tires so 1yr went by i made a right turn sound like i ran over something later that day i had a small hole in the diff pan i took it off hads 2teeth broken off ring gear well called around for prices a used rear end 900.00 dam.i was told to call this rear end place cost me 1250.00 all new bearings, seals, piniongear, ring gear and the posi trac gears. cost more it`s a 4 wd so shop around

I get around 17-19 mpg on my Ram... Its a v6 so its a real DOG. but i still love it... I checked with a mechanic and he said that there is no reason to change out all the gears or a completely new Pinion if its not worn down... so we shall see.... Mine is 2wd not 4wd either

Dang. I get 25-30 in my sidekick, but since it has higher compression, I gotta use the premium or it knocks. Doesnt matter much either way, town is like 2 miles away.
