that sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!Lol
dude you have no idea. i had it lined up right the first time. but then realized i forgot to put a bead on the basket for the surround pulled it up and put the glue down and i was in such a hurry to get it back together before it started setting it i forgot to realign it.

My wife got pissed when we bought a knife set and got some freebee steak knifes and a couple pairing, One steak and one pairing went straight to the garage... I was like "Quit your bitchin, I'm not takin the ones we paid for :p "

So now that we know a lil more about the Beta.... When is the Alpha coming?
Airforceyooper
07-05-07, 03:31 PM
I suck. I don't have a steak knife. I do have a spiderco and a couple different leathermans though. Can I still be in the group? Please. I'll sit quietly in the back and just smile ... you won't even know I'm there.
nope, not the same, until youve had to endure the look on your wifes face when a steak knife is missing you will never have earned the right to have a steak knife as a tool and there is no substitute
cargodz
07-06-07, 01:54 AM
Sorry Rob, I gotta agree with Terry on this one... Just conveniently grab one out the drawer on your way to the garage and slip it in your box ;)
Now I suppose I really need to ask... Do we NEED a steak knife as an installation tool for the TWP Beta? or does it just make the install go more smoothly? and is it going to be on the list of tools needed for install on the manual?
Airforceyooper
07-06-07, 11:45 AM
ok fine, I'll grab one tonight when I'm doing the dishes. If she kicks my ass because of a missing steak knife, I'm off the forum! You guys will owe me big time. lol
oh yeah ... sweet sub!

Hey Bill u making those only in 15"? Or is there a 10"?
^ Good question... Are they gonna be available in different sizes or just the 15" for now?
And what are the different options available?
10 possibly im working on it ;) 12 15 and 18s for sure coils of dual .7 1.4 1 and 2 ohm. basket options as follows the basket above six spoke in black or red and the standard 12 spoke in black or silver. single dual or quad spiders.
scotts1000rr
07-09-07, 05:24 PM
You know how some equipment comes with special tools included(allen wrench or whatever) you should include a steak knife with your subs then no one will feel left out
no one can give you a steak knife, you have to earn it.....
scotts1000rr
07-09-07, 06:12 PM
this is true. its hard to get it out of the kitchen even harder to keep it out
someone will end up getting murderd with the provided steak knife because my shits so loud!

so ya never filled us in on the performance of em Bill? What kinda results/performance did you get from these? or expect? I figured you've beat the hell out of one by now:thumbsup
havent been able to waiting on dust caps.
butter knives are better for prying something that you don't want to damage. They bend at a certain amount of pressure so as not to damage..stuff! lol
joey your sig kicks ass!!! i gots to get me one of them exhaust tips

God Knows Bill will most likely set this sucker on Fire given that he has enough free time and enough wattage lol... By the way.. My Butter Knife has my First Initial Engraved on it so i know its mine... heheh
ive never set anything on fire ;)
yet
CaptainPioneer
07-10-07, 06:34 AM
really? U've never plugged a sub u hated into a wall socket and watched it burn? lol
yea ive wall socketed an MT before but it didnt catch on fire sparked like crazy and exploded but didnt burn.
CaptainPioneer
07-10-07, 08:21 AM
haahah well close enough.. Why would u socket an MT? wouldnt it just be easier to give it to me? lol probably not but oh well
this was before i knew it was a bad idea before reconing :( i got scolded by mike stiers of maxxsonics for that one lol. coil welded to the pole is a bitch to get out. ill never do that one again lol.
CaptainPioneer
07-10-07, 08:38 AM
did u at least videotape that? lol
CaptainPioneer
07-10-07, 10:16 AM
ah oh well... i tried to videotape when i blew out an old hifonics sub that i got for free but somehow the video clip corrupted on my computer... THis sucker was old though... I think it was a hifonics Zeus sub... the one that had the red cone on it i could be wrong i think it was a Hifonics... it definitely said zeus on it though lol
cargodz
07-10-07, 01:54 PM
Heck we were wall socketing subs left and right at the builds and none of them caught fire...
So when should we expect you to have a dust cap and some real world performance figures for us?
got a dust cap from one of the elevations on tonight and glued the damn tinsels on on the left piece and need to get more butt connectors for the right side. then testing!
Darthness

got a dust cap from one of the elevations on tonight and glued the damn tinsels on on the left piece and need to get more butt connectors for the right side. then testing!
So when are you expecting your dust caps to be in? Or is that the last piece of the puzzle that's pushing it out a couple weeks on assembly?
And If these lil puppies have what you say they have for excursion... You're definately gonna HAVE TO video tape that :)
the dust caps should be in with the cone assemblies. what takes so long for production is because im building them by hand and have to do some custom work to the baskets and i have to machine a .25 spacer.
CaptainPioneer
07-11-07, 07:19 AM
Ah u can prolly do that in ur sleep!! LOL jk some day when u have a huge company and u have all ur little grunts making these subs for you u will look back on this and remember all the hard work u put into it lol
thats what they all say lol. sooo uh who wants one!
CaptainPioneer
07-11-07, 10:11 AM
So u think they will be good in a Sealed box as well?
cargodz
07-11-07, 11:02 AM
So u think they will be good in a Sealed box as well?
Such a statement would call for a hanging at one of the builds... Good thing your a ways away from Bill or he'd be pullin the gun out right about now... That's to say if he hasn't already shot his computer for your question :p
So u think they will be good in a Sealed box as well?
i have slaughtered six baby midgets in response to said question.
but to be honest sure they would work. but y would you do it lol. the subs designed to be a high powerhandling SQL woofer use the sub to the best of its advantage and put it in a moderate ported box with about 1800 to 2200 watts and watch your windshield.
CaptainPioneer
07-11-07, 11:39 AM
i have slaughtered six baby midgets in response to said question.
Thank god I hate midgets! LOL ...
Well The reason i ask is if the price is right and the build that i think i will do I will just rebuild my box in my truck to accomodate the 15" sub. I think i could easily get about 4cuft out of it.and its already built to size... Adding a port or ports could take a bit of work unless i did multiple ones... at short depths.
3.25cf tuned to 45hz with 2 4 inch aeros or a slot port should yield the results your looking for.
CaptainPioneer
07-11-07, 12:30 PM
oh really? Hmmm well then yea but the only problem is the length on those ports might extend past the depth of my enclosure unless i do 3 inch ports and port on the top. Its ok to Use PVC pipes right?
nah if your gonna use pvc just use a slot. if you buy one ill send you the design
CaptainPioneer
07-11-07, 01:26 PM
I cant make the slot for the box that i have in mind at least not easily... Ill use the stupid PNR ports if ur gonna be that way lol...
cargodz
07-11-07, 04:03 PM
Aeros would yeild a better sound anyway if your wanting SQ ;)
aeros = louder = aeros = better sound bill wolf = teh jesus.
Darthness
07-12-07, 07:00 AM
bill wanna trade my Q for a TWP sub?
CaptainPioneer
07-12-07, 07:24 AM
aeros = louder = aeros = better sound bill wolf = teh jesus.
HEHE Like how mexican's say that jesus = "HEY ZEUS"
hehe i do want good SQ out of it, but it will be in the truck... Let me get a pic of what i currently run and ill show u what i want to do by explaining it to ya...
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/1/web/673000-673999/673008_13_full.jpg
again forget about the stupid looking pod that is long gone... but yea basically i want to use the same box but i will put a new front on it to be outfitted for a 15" if indeed i can fit one on there... i want to put it dead center... and i was thinking about putting the ports on the top... How does that sound?
cargodz
07-12-07, 11:27 AM
Sounds like it should work well... 2 aeroports (1 on each end), should give you the response your looking for and still get hella loud :D
CaptainPioneer
07-12-07, 12:03 PM
well then thats great cause i dont want to have to build another one of those boxes... that sucker was a bigun lol
CaptainPioneer
07-12-07, 12:46 PM
Ill get back to you on that one Bill... I think the top is something like 5" but the bottom should be around 13-15 inches... Again i really gotta look and measure it again...
cargodz
07-12-07, 01:58 PM
Whats the mounting depth on the TWP?
cargodz
07-12-07, 02:55 PM
Ill get back to you on that one Bill... I think the top is something like 5" but the bottom should be around 13-15 inches... Again i really gotta look and measure it again...
about 8.5
Ouch that may be a really close fit... You may have to add another sheet of mdf to the front if you've got the room.
CaptainPioneer
07-13-07, 06:50 AM
I think i can do that... It shouldnt inhibit too too much... I gave up a couple years ago sacrificing leg and back reclining room for my audio set ups... This box is really the first and best one that i can remember that has accommodated for me perfectly as well as housed the subs well...
I forgot to measure it last night but in all fairness... I didnt really get home untill 11 last night after my soccer game... and of course drinks with the boys lol
drinks > Measuring but Drinks/measuring < Pussy.

If you get time and your TL with ya, you may want to see what just one will do... Just to get some info on what a single does ;)
35.6 A x 84.6 v = 3011.76 = 2.37 reactive load. per coil ;)
yes thats right 6000 wrms for 3 mins playing everything down to 10hz. pics vids and there were about 8 people who witnessed it.
we had 2 MM4000.1s one per coil on the sub. in a 45hz tuned box. i wanted to tourture test this woofer and we did.
breakjunki
07-14-07, 07:52 PM
I even went over to the wolf pack site.. you have to post your vids and pics.. did you TL the beast? not to shabby.. and all that without any magic white smoke:thumbsup ......nice
o no it died. it died after 3 mins i was trying to kill it. im waiting for mookie/mike grice/swimmerdude to email me the pics and vids we metered it and mookie was as loud with 2 of mine as he was with his 4 autotek 15s and my amp fried before i could burp it.

Love it... Not only did you burn coil(s) to the point of smell, but you actually had smoke rollin out. That's some awesome performance right there ;)
You didn't get a reading on it when you did that did ya?, curious as to what numbers it would have put up before going up in smoke.
CaptainPioneer
07-15-07, 08:28 AM
Ah jease i dont remember his name but he was a big black dude... who was majorly cool... He was running an older Hatchback white i believe... Its a pretty cool car i think he ran something like a 156 or 158
sweet. and no we didnt mike we were turture testing the sub while playing 10 and 20hz wouldnt have been any impressive numbers.
cargodz
07-15-07, 09:40 AM
You were running it at extended periods of time at 10-20Hz :surprised and it held for that long... That's what I'm talking about :attitude :happy055:
CaptainPioneer
07-15-07, 09:49 AM
Bill u know if the money is right and I can get the right deals on the power for the truck.. hopefully in a few years I will be able to do that Blow through and i wouldnt consider running anything except your subs... of course i might require some guidance from a certain somebody who knows there shtuff bout spl... cough cough Bill ... lol

CaptainPioneer
07-15-07, 10:16 AM
u know it! If things go right in the next year or 2... that will be the plan... 2 15's in a custom box which no doubt will have to be designed by Bill... But yea thats the plan...
I figure somethign like 6-8 batts a HO alt... 2 of Bill's 15" subs. And prolly 2 4000 watt amps... sounds right??
If I can start saving the money now... yea in 2 years that will be the big project...
Its either that or the Brew room that i have always wantted.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QLjYL-5eSM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwS3Nfq_yNE
That box was tuned to 45hz, and we were having it play things WAY below that.... so needless to say, we were putting a lot of stress on the woofer that way, and then we clamped the amps that were powering it (2 MM4000's) and got just under 6k of power to it. And we figure that was some clipped power too.

CaptainPioneer
07-16-07, 06:39 AM
Jease Bill... So what kinda numbers do you think you will put up given the correct box and electrical system?
well thats to difficult to predict are we talking extreme cars or daily driving what kind of power what kind of setup.
CaptainPioneer
07-16-07, 09:32 AM
Ok lets talk Best Case scenario given these subs optimal conditions so probably extreme cars
190million dbz. honestly cant tell you. way to many variables

cargodz
07-16-07, 02:51 PM
well thats to difficult to predict are we talking extreme cars or daily driving what kind of power what kind of setup.
Ok variables... But what would the optimum enclosure be? Vented and Sealed... I only mentioned sealed cause you know somebody else would ask if I didn't and you know that I would never ruin the true nature of the WP sub with a sealed box :)
And with that what would be the optimum power for each?
the thing is i build to suit the box and the power. but for mainstream im gonna say 2krms. for the 15 it seems to like 4.5cf ported with 96sq of port.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!
lol
Why is it that some dufus has to always try and touch the cone of a sub? There is some strange type of magnetism to a woofer............oh yeah, that was a good one!
that would be me smartass lol. i was looking at the excursion using my finger as a guide as to how far the sub was moving
every time someone touches my sub, i swear, i get closer and closer to punching someone in the throat.
haha lol. well its my sub so its ok. and i will never let anyone else touch my subs lol.
I'm the same way, I touch my subs all the time, but no one else can.
