I would like to announce that Basstronics will now utilize new screws for our boxes!

NO MORE DRYWALL SCREWS!

I have found some new screws that provide more overall strength with less chance of splitting!

Starting immediately all boxes from this point forward will be constructed with new screws. Said screws are 2 1/2" Lengths. a Full 5/8" longer than the previous screws I have been using for years.

Not only do these screws do a better job, they save time. True they cost triple what the previous screws did, but my time is saved. This savings is being passed down to you the consumer.

Pricing is currently being lowered!

a screw is only as strong as 2-3 times its dia. so using an extra long screw doenst really do that much shorten them up to 1.625 and save a bit of cash and rock out!

I broke up some MDF earlier.

The new screws were way harder to break the MDF...

The drywall screws did so with some effort. I mean 1 5/8" total length vs 2 1/2" there is some difference...

I usually place my screws no closer than 2" from the end of the wood to prevent splitting. I also C'sink/pilot every hole with appropriate tool. Still will split occasionally depending on how moist the wood is.

Also I can rock out far faster. Simply screw it in without any predrilling or C'sinking...

glue, air stapler, mine never come apart or split

although i would like to point out that if you are using 3/4" mdf a screw that long is more detrimental to the structure than it is helpful. you are simply trying to securely join to pieces of wood together 1 5/8" should be plenty, your predrilling has got to be taking some extra time too.
