Ok looking at NEW CD decks. The Digifine sold with the Cougar.
I have a budget
Looking at
Alpine 9835
JVC KD-LHX500
Clarion DXZ945MP
All about the same price range Ive found $250-$350
Im down for any. I am liking the JVC and the Alpine the best. JVC is the cheapest. Gonna buy real soon!

I'd go with the Alpine too.
Never been a real fan of the Clarion units, just something about them I've never liked. Never owned a JVC so I don't really have an opinion on that one.
but I have had several Alpines, and I've had such great luck with them. Even the low end models I've had, have been reliable.

The JVC has some wicked features. Voice commands. It also tell you what its doing (Voice confirmation). Sounds like it actually talks back to you.
I also see the Alpine with the 16 gig Hard Drive in it for about $400. I could probably do that also.

I just put a bid on the Alpine HDA-5460.
That looks awesome. No more CD's at all, just a 16 gig hard drive. That can hold around 3000 MP3's

That one is pretty good. The only thing I don't like about it is that it only has one preout. (HDA-5460)
If you don't get that one, then go for the other Alpine.

I didnt even look at that.
I could split it up though.
Errr I will probably end up with the JVC. THis Alpine is getting rich for my blood.
The other Alpine looks alright and the features seem good. But that JVC has some cool sounding features.

JVC has some interesting features, but nothing that I personally would find useful. The Alpine has many more tuning options including a much better crossover system, time alignment features, and a far superior EQ compared to the JVC. I guess it depends on what you are looking for in your head unit, but for my needs, the Alpine looks like the best.
The Clarion looks to have some useful EQ / Crossover features as well, but from the little I've read about it, it doesn't appear to have the level of features that the Alpine has. That's just my 2 cents.

Pioneer has some good EQ features as well. My new DEH P9600mp has a 13 band EQ with time adjustments and even an auto EQ. It comes with a corded microphone that you clip to your headrest and it does a series of tests to perfectly adjust your eq. Of course you get out the car, but it does work well. I don't know if it adjusts it perfect, but it made mine sound far better than a flat setting.

Well I bought one, just wasnt on that list. I ended up buying the JVC KD-AR7000
Has all the features I want, all the specs I could want also.
If this one ends up sucking I will just probably buy the Alpine

I really like the one I have. I suspect this one will be as good or better

The Clarion is nice, it just doesn't have an EQ built in.
