for that much, grab up a type R
Pair of R 12's is plenty for anyone... so long as you put them in a good box.

only real good subs from Cerwin Vega to me personally are the Strokers and Vega series.

Yea i just might buy a pair of type r's, there really not that bad of a sub.
For the price that is.
But the box i had built (for 2 DD's) is about 5.5 cub total, one chamber 2 openings ported.
The type r's for temp subs would be nice, but they require 1.75 cub feet max ported.
Any ideals on what to do here?

My friends dad has a pair of strokers in his house, and they are bad ass.
They are exceptional subs for what he paid for 'em.

Type R's are another one of those subs people underestimate from what i've heard. I wouldnt hesitate to run a pair. I'm sure they'll maintain good sq and get plenty loud for ya.

Do you for see any problems with the box being over sized?

I dont see why there would be any problem with the box being larger. Usually just a bigger box means louder. A lot of people build bigger boxes to get more output from their subs.

Type R's are supposed to be damn good subs for the money.. you can get them for pretty cheap, little over a $100

Once you get TOO big you start losing output.

Yea i kno that but he's only going 1 cu.ft. over what the manufacturer recommends. So he should be fine.

they should handle approx 600 watts in that box... as a guess :)
Very durable subs.

The only other sub that I can think of would be a comp VR... which actually performs fairly well in a box of that size.
