View Full Version : need advise from the best
hi havent had much 2 say but read alot. i know 4x6 speaker are not that good but i need something better that my memphis. i have an 84 z28 iam using a amp that is 2ohm stable to run the fronts and i know what you are going to say about the rears but the way they face you sometime do hear them. i have 2 15 hifonics bx i need bring up the fronts a little. iam trying to stay away from using the kicks and doors
Forget about the rears, its a waste of time. As far as the front stage, why do you not want to use the doors or kicks? Where else to you intend to put the midbass?
as for the doors i dont thing dynamat can help 2much rattling kick legs will be blocking most of the sound i have some big legs 6'4 320 lb my son is 6'5

Then you're going to have no other option than to go with the upper door, sail panels or a pillars for install. Definitely requiring glassing.

Woohoo!
Another Camaro owner! I think that's 3 of us now!
We are taking over the world (lol)
For our cars, like Joey said forget the rears and work on the front stage. Not wanting to do the doors or the kicks pretty much takes away all your options.
The kicks would be the best option to get the best sound, then maybe add a midbass driver in your door (that's what I'll do eventually)
The kicks don't get blocked like you think they would, that's where I had mine. Having them there, really does sound nice. You'll be surprised at how much better it sounds there. You can make them so they don't stick out too far too.
Oh I have an 84 too.

Although I don't have one currently... I have owned many F-body (camaros/ firebirds) in the past and know a few people that still have them... These guys are not steering you wrong by advising kicks/ doors... It really is the best sounding placements for these vehicles :)

+1 on the doors and kicks for staging from another F-body owner :D I have two of them, and the one with the system has kick pods with components, however I am still utilizing the dash locations too. Believe it or not, I have been able to tell when one of those four spots went out.
ive had a few of those in the past too...my favorite for the year you have is a pair of 6.5 midbass in the doors in custom buildouts, and then a
mid and tweet in the dash....
thanks for the advise i have some old but still new in the box boston 6.5. i will try the kicks first GOOD TO SEE THERE IS STILL REAL CAR LOVE OUT THERE. when done i you know

Are you kidding, there was a entire society commited to bringing back the F-body the moment GM said they were canceling the platform and none of us were happy with the new GTO as a replacement... It was the thousands of signatures, emails, letters, and phone calls that showed GM that the Camaro especially (as the first GM pony car) "HAD" to be brought back to life :)
Although I will surely not buy one of the new ones when they first come out, I do look forward to owning one in the future... And then again I still have a couple other F-bodies that I wouldn't mind owning in the future either... 89 Firebird GTA Pacecar edition, 69 Camaro SS/RS 396, 70 Trans Am 455 SD/HD Ram Air :happy055:

I wish they would bring back the Trans Am, I always like them. The 4th Gens were nice looking too.

Well there has been rumors of a return of the Trans Am Only... and not the Firebird, but I think GM is waiting to see how sales go with the Camaro first.
