While I was home on leave I had a chance to check out JoeyC's install. All I can say is wow.
Now keep in mind the sub was turned off, and the components had 0 tweaking done to them. No EQ, No time alignment, and No phase adjustment. Basically he pulled them out of the box, built a nice set of a pillars, and wired them up.
The first thing I noticed, was how well the mid and tweet blended. Morel did an excellent job on the x-over. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't hear were the mid dropped off, and the tweet took over.
The next thing that stood out to me, was how rich that dome mid sounds. Yeah it had some of the traditional morel warmth, but it was so pleasing to listen to I could have sat there for hours.
The more I listened, the more I started to notice the detail, and dynamics of the set. It didn't matter what lvl we had the volume. His sound stage seemed to come alive with every note.
Now, I did notice one down fall. The mid bass wasn't what I had hoped for. Again, it blended really well with the mid, but wasn't as aggressive as I would have liked. I do think a little EQing, and a slight mod to the install could bring it up to my standards, but as an "out of the box" listen I was very VERY impressed.
