I'm actually playing with a hydrogen system right now, although its on hold right now until I get my new stereo system installed.

I had it set up on my wifes car about 3 weeks ago and just took it off a few days ago. Its a 2004 Chevy classic 2.2l. We used the car on our trip to Florida and put almost 4k miles on the car. I had a few problems with the hydrogen system so I'm still working the bugs out.

When I first put it on I did notice an increase in power but I have yet to see a significant increase in gas mileage. But I still need to work out some bugs. And I only have about 50-60 dollars invested in it. Not the 600-1000 dollars that they sell on the internet.

I noticed on the guys website he mentions an interfaced used with the cars computer to accept the new efficiency of the hydrogen setup.

Thats probably the hardest part right there.

If you would like to share your ideas and such Im all ears. I would really like to do this for my fleet.

Heck yeah! I think we'd all be interested in hearing your ideas ;)

Bill & myself do engineering. I also have a fully outfitted machine shop at my disposal. Got it all from EDM to CNC everything.

I am a machinist by trade. I have run CNC and EDM for 13 years now.

The main problem we are having right now is getting the computer tuned. There are a few things out there that may work. The one we are looking into adjust the signal from the oxygen sensor, (I think). We are still in the beginning stages right now.

The system we are using look alot like the on from this web site.

Thanks for the link.

Im not sure on spending $97 to learn what pot and resisotrs this guy is using. I guess I will search out some photos.

Looks to me the wonder box is simply adjusting the Ohms ont he MAP sensor... Fair and easy enough.

Systems is simple enough to figure out for the mechanically inclined I guess ;)

Think im just gonna build one.

Well I spent about 2 hours total researching today.

HHO Generator:

Wire wound, close windings.

Perforated stainless sheets = more surface area= more HHO

(Look on e bay for ideas, lol)

Fire suppressor

No clue what its made out of, but $15 on E Bay and for sure $15 of insurance ;) Dont need any explosions!

Water Separator

Harbor Freight $5 special. Gonna pick it up this weekend!

Sensor Control

Im going to control the MAF sensor. Ive seen people plumb in before the sensor, but I want control. Circuit as follows:
25K Ohm Pot, 10KOhm resistor wired in series. Spliced directly into the MAF circuit on the wire marked VG or is variable Volts. Other side of circuit to chassis ground.

Amp Meter

To keep and eye on the generator.

Fuses

Im fusing my HHO generator at 20 amps for start and Im running 8 Ga wire.

Various plumbing, all at lowes.

Hoping to start construction this week.

I seen unleaded for $3.65 today. Insane.

Hey Ryan, if this works you'll be able to afford the drive over to this side of town to let me have a look :D

Mythbusters tested this and it didnt work.

I can take some pics for you later and post them tomorrow.

Mythbusters.... I havent seen that episode but if they "tested" it like some of the other things I have seen on that show I'm not surprised they didnt get it to work.

They applied the deal the wrong way. Trying to use the HHO gas only.

Aren't these the same idiots that tryed making a mechanical woofer (as cheap as possible I might add) that took up the whole inside of the car and only did a 166 dB ... I mean come on... give our lil friend Bill an unlimited supply of funds and I'm sure we'd see much better results :D

I bought a water/oil seperator at Harbor Freight for $6.

Bought some 3/8" Clear tubing, white nylon 90 hose barbs, 2 brass hose barbs for the fire arrestor.

Found out on an E Bay auction all the arrestors are is two hose barbs with a plastic tube outside stuffed with brass wool. lol, now I dont have to buy a $20 item ;)

Come on Tomcat get the pics up man :)

Sorry about the pics. I kept forgetting to bring my camera to work. But I did remember to bring my system home. I'll get some pics later today.

For hose I use fuel line because it will last almost forever. With all the heat in the engine compartment the clear stuff might get brittle. But I tend to over build everything. You should see the box I just built for my Focal sub.... even I had to laugh at the amount of screws I used. Oh well, Better safe than sorry.

WHat size hose/fittings did ya use?

I bought 3/8" ID hose...lol

tomcat

I used 3/16" ID fuel line, 3/8" is pretty big. I might use 3/8" if I had 6 jars going into to a manifold and one big line running out.

I used 1/4" water (NPT I think) for the fitting. And a universal T if you can tap into an existing vacuum line.

Hey Ryan and all you others out there...my name is Tom, I happen to see you all the other day when I was doing a search. I am the webmaster/owner and manufacture of the Hydogen fuel cell from GoTURTLEPOOP.COM
We have just introduced a new model line called THE HURRICANE.
Just for those that are intrested in it...I am not intrested in spamming here...I just thought it was neat that I did a google search and found links to your site from mine because you mentioned it or talked about it....thank you and if any of you have one,,,happy trails in fuel savings...if anyone wants to know about it, check out the site or email me...
have a great day

Hello,

Actually I saw it on the news- Im from the area as well as a few others here.

I backed off on the project as specualtion on what it actually does to your vehicle.

The new slanted it with the UT Professors help to really make it sound impractical. But being in this hobby I can tell you 20-40 amps of power isnt squat crap... 20 amps can be done on a stock alternator...

Above that you may have to go up as this is a constant current...

But other than that, just worried about what moisture will do to the internals.

Plus if the internal should over touch... and blow up... yikes.

Tom
07-28-08, 06:41 AM
yea....Bill Horman didn't ask the right questions...and the prof. didn't tell the whole truth...the fact is, we can produce about 200 times more HHO energy than we use in electrical, and that we only draw about 5 amps anyway.
internal parts are in water...can't blow up...besides...just blow a fuse.
and moisture should never go up the hose to the motor...not the way we set it up.
lol...that was my van and me on the news....bummer being laid off from hvac!
If installed correctly, it will give your vehicle...
more power
burn gas more efficiantly
burn cleaner
clean out the cylinders of any carbon build up
make your engine last longer

Ya go figure... Toledos media is all trash...

I understand pretty much all of it. Only issue Ive really hit(brick wall) is the electronics behind it.

Some say trick the mass flow. Other say if you do that the o2 will just error into more fuel. Some say o2 only, some both...

Im still highly interested in the whole project. But only having one vehicle for my personal use makes it about impossible. Was going to dothis on my g/f's car, but she cant go without either.

my father and i are running a hydrogen assisted car well actually 2 of them we are useing an o2 bypass module with an adjustable potentiameter that we purchased from a place to trick the pcm, but we ran into problems, i had to add a delay timer in before the module so the pcm would read the o2 for 100 secs before the module took over, we are running a stainless unit at the time and we have gotten up to 60 mpg so far but it takes alot of work and alot of adjusting to get things right. we will be changing over to a plastic unit in the near future, that will be built by us, we use a chemical mixture with potassium hydroxide and filtered water, works for us so far, we just have to perfect it.
