I've always hooked my subs up the old fashioned way and now that I'm getting more into this stuff, I thought I'd learn about how to bridge everything and make it really bump.
To bridge just one speaker i think im suppose to hook it up to both the positives...And to bridge 2 speakers (under one amp) I would hook the second speaker up to the first speaker. Is this all right?
and is this called "parallel?"
Thanx everyone,
Chad
make sure your amp is bridgable first. ever amp i've ever bridged had diagrams or instructions on how to brige. usually you use a positive from one channel and a negative from another and that bridges the two together (at least int he amps i've bridged...which are JL and pioneer).
parallel is when you hook up the negative and positive of the speaker/sub to the negative and positive of the amp respectively.
series is when say you have a DVC sub, you hook up one negative of the sub to the other positive of the sub, and then you hook up the remaining to the amp.
blah hard to explain, there's diagrams somewhere.
if you are wiring subs in parallel than you divide the ohms by 2. (my sub is dual 2ohm, so in parallel its 1ohm)
if you are wiring them in series, you add the ohms (my sub is dual 2ohm, in series it would be 4ohm)

by the way you have to be cautious when bridging. I believe if you bridge you are giving the speaker a mono signal, therefore if it is a speaker and not a subwoofer you may have to rethink your RCA connections. I bridge my JL 300/4 and i have to use Y-adapters.
good luck
