Default Fitting modern Continental stereo to Ford Escort 1980

Hi all, please see the pics attached.

I need some advice on some of the wiring to hook up a Continental CDD7418UB to my 1980 Ford Escort.
Firstly the 3.5mm jack with two wires coming out of it, one labelled Key A, the other GND...
    what is this for?
Let me say there is no hole in the back or front for a jack this size so I assume it is meant for a third party iPod or phone etc,... but where do these wires connect?
Obviously the black GND is supposed to go to ground, the blue wired KEY A is a mystery.
If it's not required fair enough.

I know I will not require the SWRC cable as it is for more modern vehicles.
    Steering Wheel Remote (radio?) Control.

You can see the VERY helpful wiring diagram that came with the unit...

Telephone mute low, what does this connect to, what's it for?
and... A6 Illumination, what should this connect to?

A4 to the ignition block, the A7 direct to fuse box I assume for station memory.
    A8 self explanatory

A5 antenna is I assume if you have an electric aerial, which I don't.

I have bought a twin aux to 3.5mm male jack so I can connect up my iPod if required.
The twin female AUX are already accounted for on the back of the unit so that should be straight forward through the AUX menu.

Thanks for any input you can offer.

All the best. Jim UK 1980 Escort
