    Default A Few Questions

Hey guys! What's going on? Well, I have decided that I am going to attempt to install my first system all by myself. That now leads me to a few questions:

NOTE: This is being installed in a 1995 Saturn SC2

1)My setup is going to be one 12" Kicker 05CVR124. It is rated at 400 rms. It is going to be wired at 2 ohms. I will be powering it with a hifonics bx1000d amp. This is rated to do 1 x 700 rms @ 2 ohms, so I will obviously be using the gain and a multimeter to regulate this to around 400 rms. What gauge wire kit do I need to buy? Also, in the future I MIGHT buy another sub and hook them both up, running a 1 ohm load, and use the amp since it is rated at 1000 rms x 1 @ 1 ohm. Would that change things? What would I need then? What would you reccomend?

    2) Where do you recommend mounting the amp? On the floor next to the box? On the box? On the back of the back seat?

    3) Where can I get wiring kits for cheap? Even on EBAY the kits are expensive...

    1) Buy two subs... 700 WRMS to a 400 WRMS sub isnt going to last long. The Gain is not a volume control or a wattage regulator, you will still get that amount of power.

    2) Not on the box or the seat. Seats move. Boxes are easily stolen...

    3) www.knukonceptz.com By far the cheapest and best place to buy your wiring...

    I only have one sub....

I was told that using a mutlimeter, you can make sure only a certain amount of wattage is being produced by the amp, thus controlling power.

Couldn't be any further away from the truth. (what Audiobass said, false)

You can put it on the back of the rear seats (assuming you have a 4 door or the rear of the seat is in the trunk area. Just don't place the amp too high to the "ceiling". Amps need room to breathe and heat rises; keep that in mind.

do they make that kicker sub in a different voice coil config than just dual 4 ohm? If they make a dual 2 ohm one you could wire that sub to 4 ohms (v.c.'s in series) and probably run that amp no problem

    Just a thought
