1986 Chevrolet Camaro — Mullet

This is my 1986 IROC-Z Camaro with only 26,010 actual miles on it. The car was purchased from Barrett Jackson with 25k miles on it and had been garaged most all of its life so everything is in incredible condition. I have all of the paperwork for her including the original purchase receipt from 1986.

The Exact Camaro I Was Looking For

I was being very picky and had some specific criteria I was looking for including:

  • Red Car with Black Accents
  • Red and Black Interior (not just red, as many are)
  • Red Leather or Red Vinyl (very rare) Seats
  • No T-Tops (don't want to deal with that this time around)
  • IROC-Z, Low Mileage

… and I found it all with this particular car!

Long Time Third Gen Camaro Lover

I've always been a huge fan of 3rd gen Camaros and have owned multiple various models over the years. However, this is my first IROC and by far the nicest one I have ever had. The ones in the past have all been t-top models so this is my first with a solid roof as well.

Historically I've had large audio systems in my Camaros, as they are the perfect stage for building really cool systems that can not only sound great, but look great too.

Work Performed After Initial Purchase (First Month)

Although the car was technically almost brand new (with only 25k miles), it was still 40 years old and hadn't been driven in many years. Therefore, a lot of work was performed in the first month after buying it (all parts replaced with NOS except gaskets, filters, hoses, belts):

  • Engine Gaskets
  • Hoses, Belts, Rubbers
  • Transmission Gaskets and Filter
  • Fuel Filter
  • Cooling Fan Relay and Motor
  • Temperature Sending Unit
  • Gauge Cluster Bulbs
  • Rear Calipers and Brakes
  • Front IROC Wheel (Was Bent)
  • Alignment and Balance
  • Steering Idler Arm
  • Front Wheel Seals
  • Distributor Cap and Rotor
  • MSD Spark Plug Wires
  • 20% Ceramic Tinting on Side and Back Windows
  • 50% Ceramic Tinting on Front Windshield
  • Thick Durafit Rear Seat Covers (Protection for the Dog)
