If I unplug the power from the HD adapter, the radio will then start to use its own tuner.
I have a brand new p610BT radio from pioneer
The way it looks I'm going to have to install the HD adapter on the outside somewhere so I can unplug it when I want to listen to AM radio.
that would be the dumbest design i have ever heard. Pioneer has really taken a shit the last few years. You should just be able to change bands to am without unplugging anything.

I can get AM it is just that the HD adapter does not pick up analog signals as well as the base tuner.

I ended up using the y-adapter and taping the HD-adapter to the outside so if I needed the AM stations in a remote location where the signal isn't as strong I could just unplug the HD-adapter and use the headunits tuner
