Will any static images be left on the screen for any period of time at all? (gaming, channel watermarks, tickertapes, etc)

Will the screen be in direct sunlight?

If yes to either of these, go LCD, if no, go Plasma.

Look at Panasonic. If you want a Plasma, look at the S1 series.

stick to a 1080p set. 720p is just retarded unless you just want the cheapest TV set you can find with no plans to ever go HD source.

I don't like Sony. Samsung has a lot of issues with things like fan buzz, but the image quality on their plasmas have good reviews overall.

Vizio for the price rapes anything on the market.

We picked up a Phillips 42" for $800.

I see the price is to $700 at Wal mart now.

From all the tvs I looked at, for the price it was the best.

Wolf can you explain your 1080p to 720p comment?

I've done a lot of reading on this and a lot of people said that the 1080p is almost impossible to detect the difference between the two from the appropriate viewing distance... They said if you will be sitting within 6-8 ft of your TV, 1080p's has the advantage... Otherwise they said that 720 offers a smoother picture.

Just would like your opinion. thanks.

I agree. There's better out there, but not for the price.

The ultra cheap tv's are made by the same manufacture and made to be extremely cheap. with Horrible customer service and very little support.

I think it depends a lot on your screen size too, if you only have a 32 inch tv, I don't think you'll see much difference between a 720 or 1080.

But if you have a huge TV 50+, I think you could see the difference. It also depends how far away you are from the screen too.

    That's just a guess tho.
