didn't look them up, but if those quarts are indeed the Q series, definitely get those out of the the three listed

Im sure Jonathan would be able to help out a bit more since this is more his field but i happen to really really like the Alpines over the RF's and PPI's but the between the Kicker and Alpine its a toss-up...

3 way comps is probably the way to go then. Especially if you can get an 8" midbass!

you do that in flint and you may just get killed. lol. thats not exactly the best area.

Thanks pimpmaynard, and good luck on your install. I almost bought a plain cavalier to do something similar to what you're doing, but wound up buying my eclipse instead. However, I'm looking at (eventually, but not right away) having a three way front stage ... 7" (maybe 8") in the doors, 5" or so in the kick and tweet either in the A-pillar or in the stock dash locations with sub and amps built into the back seat area. I'm also researching computer options as a replacement for a HU.

Anyway, back on topic ... mb quart I'm sure doesn't sound like it did 10 years ago, that's about the last time I paid them any attention.

mb quart is fairly bright but they are now owned by maxxsonics and the design is done in germany again not at rf.....the sets ive sold and installed have had good midbass without being overly bassy......ive not tried the new q series but the new refernce stuff is killer

off the subject for just a second: merry christmas youper. i hope everything is wonderful with you man, and i feel your pain. on the subject, i've personally owned 2 sets of mb quarts. in my experience, the highs have been very bright. the mids, very decent, and i've been extremely pleased with both components sets that i've bought. i'll probably go with the mb quart for the new install. i plan on getting a basic cavalier, running fatmat in the whole thing, knukonceptz wiring all the way through (have all of it already), jl w3v2d4s in the trunk in proper ported box (have it already), all amps will be ppi art (have them) then putting 2 sets of those comps in the front as the sound stage (1 in doors, 1 in kickpods.) upgrading the alt, yet leaving the exterior completely stock. that way when i roll up on flint thugs around here, and i turn it up, the will blush. i want crushing mids and highs and on demand, i can make people cover their ears. (i like extremely loud, yet clear and crisp sound.) this is my goal for the summer.

I'm a firm believer in independent listening likes and dislikes. I loved the sound of the Bang and Olefson (sp?) Beolab 5s I heard. I think that's what they were. They cost like $20k a pair. Anyway, I thought they sounded great. A musician friend of mine in "The United States Air Force Band," said they're some of the worst sounding speakers he's heard. lol. We all don't hear the same. Some people's hearing is more sensitive then others. Some people like very sharp and crisp highs, others don't. Some people are straight up tone deaf and can't tell the difference from one distinctly different setup from another. So, it's all in the ear of the listener.

probably much like the infinitys then. decent stuff, it just depends on YOUR ears rather or not it suits you.
