No kidding, that would screw everything up. I know people who would be put under the jail, I'm talking have to pipe sunshine to them, if they got caught.

^^^ peer guardian can be downloaded online in fact PG2 came out. I just put it on my PC... you can choose to block certain IP's as well as run behind a Proxy. Its pretty nice... wish i had it before. I heard that story... it ran on the news i believe a couple years ago. Yea basically from what i was told if you run over 150kb/s in a download generally your ISP starts to monitor you... I got lucky with a couple movies that were fast downloaders but never got caught. But generally when you dl torrents they are slow but steady... Oh well... im crossing my fingers that nothing happens... I have a new bike and need to make payments on it as well as tuition payments... If some greedy ass movie company or record company comes at me they are just going to mess my life up.

No such a problems here in Slovenia. You can download whatever you want - music, films, software...

Well Im buying original CD - music - there are many reasons for that but the biggest reason is: I DONT LIKE MP-3s - IMHO they suck.

I got quite big film collection - originals, but there is few downloaded films in my collection - it is dumb to pay for film that you will look for once or twice...

From what I have been told they also watch for the volume that is downloaded. They do watch to see how often you IP shows up.
I heard of a woman who got busted for downloading music, she was a single mom who was downloading music for her kids to listen to on trips and stuff, I think it was quite a bit of music, however they took her to court and after the facts came out they threw it out.

There is alot of expense to going to court and I would think they wouldn't waste time on someone who downloads occasionally.

I wonder if it is still copyright infringement thoough, afterall it's not being redistributed. I have also been told, by an unnamed source, that where you really get into trouble is uploading to be sent back out??

How does one get Peer Guardian, where could I find it??

i used to have one... They contacted me by phone... the ISP that is. Not the RIAA

id be kinda worried they always contact the isp first b4 they come to you
get a wireless router run it unsecured say 1 of your neighbors used it

I wouldnt worry about it at all. I would however find a different ISP.

first they contact your isp then you
i used to run an dump site on irc years ago for #audiowarez never got caught
now i always use peergaurdian or if i use my browser to download torrents i always use a proxy
with forensics they can find anything on your comp when you delete something its not actually deleted its still there til its overwritten there are a number of apps that wipe your drive then write 0s over the whole thing
i wouldnt be worried go to court lots of people are winning due to the methods the mpaa and riaa use of obtaining "proof"
also when using torrents turn on encryption
