well i harken from the days that amps didnt have crossovers built in to them so im just thinking if he got a chance to buy something incredible not to pass it up because it didnt have crossovers built in to it. external electronic crossovers are not that expensive

My hu is a sony mex-bt3700u. it has front, rear, and subwoofer preouts with LPF/HPF. preamp voltage is 2V

If your HU doesnt have a LPF you will want to look for that in an amp :)

If you dont have it in either place then you get to buy a crossover...

actually the low pass crossover on the amp isnt a prerequisite for making the purchase and shouldnt be a real consideration. the reason i say this is that almost all head units, if your talking aftermarket and i dont want to read back to the first post to see if he mentions a head unit at all.....anyway, most aftermarket head units offer a low pass filter on the sub output. use both in conjunction and youll find yourself with potentially less bass output but definitely a sharper slope at the crossover point than just using one....theres a lot more to it but typically using both can have undesired affects. anyway there are way more considerations to make when selecting an amp for this application but realistically stay with something quality....and egg sandwiches are always good in the car

I haven't decided on an amp or sub woofer or enclosure for the subwoofer yet. I'll def. take a look at these. Most things I've been viewing are on woofersetc. Are there internet retailers that sell the American bass, cause I don 't see them on woofersetc.

Almost all 4 channel amps are bridgeable.

Just make sure it has the low pass filter for the rear section.

I'll probably go with a 4 channel amp then since they are much easier to find. I don't anticipate going to 2 ohm, but I guess we all know how these projects tend to grow. I'd just have to replace the amp or add an amp if I make changes later down the road.

Eggs are good, but not while I'm driving.

One final question. Can any 4 channel amp be bridged on the rear channels or does the amp need to say that it is bridgeable?
