ya I'm hoping manufactures begin to maybe find a way to link the internet on your phone, to update traffic info etc on your nav screen. I would love to be able to see real time traffic, and have my nav reroute automatically if there has been accident ahead. I'm really suprised something like this hasn't been developed yet. With how cell phones are coming out every other day, with all sorts of new features.

Mobile Navigation units seem to almost be stuck for the past few years.

The New garmins can do that with some sort of satelite feed... although its still not accurate... I like the MSN service because of the fact that you can get gas station prices and other information... Its good for me because of my diesel car... i can check that...


As far as leveraging a new system I imagine that they will have an answer for the new msn direct or whatever they will use before the 01/01/2012 deadline... Its a big market and im sure they will look into a way to integrate it as a wireless service or something like that.

ya I almost bought a Pioneer unit because of that feature, then saw the small print about it being discontinued in 2012.
I emailed Pioneer about it, and they have no plans of any replacement yet. That sucks, I really would like to have that feature.

I get stuck in traffic almost every night on the way home from work. it would be really cool to have it direct me the fastest way home as bad thigns happen on the road.

Hey just realized you responded to this... I ended up getting the AVIC X910BT... Wonderful unit, but I would suggest doing the mods presented by AVIC411.com... The functionality and speed of the unit has increased dramatically. Accuracy is very good... Real Time traffic with this unit comes with a subscription to MSN Direct, however the service will cease to exist in in Jan 2012

Which one did you end up going with?
I've been looking for a Nav unit for the 4Runner, just wish I can find one that had real time traffic and would re-route based on bad traffic.

I can pick one of these up pretty cheap right now... Any thoughts on them? Seems like a lot of people who have them, at least online people seem to like them.

It was between this and the Clarion NX-409.
