Reinstalled the unit, it seems to be working a lot better, it still skips on hard bumps but so did my 8600mp


Guess it was because it was missing a spring.

Ok i got it back again.

He found a spring missing after comparing it to another pioneer similar model (I guess)

He says its working better now, i guess ill find out when I try it out once it gets warm outside.

Screws from the front.

I even tried a kit with the sleeve in it still had the same problem. Im now 100% convinced its internal because i did donuts in a parking lot with no skipping.

It wasnt bumpy, just the car was spinning and rocking on the shocks ect...

But a tap from your finger or quick pressure enough to make it tilt and there ya go it skips.

I took it back to the shop again. I said look dude if I tilt it, or slightly tap on it it skips.

I took the guy out to my car and showed him.

He said yeah your right it shouldnt do that.

So he said leave it here and ill give you a call in about a week.

I swear to god he probably didnt put the damn laser in right or align it.

What is the model number of the kit you got? Is it ISO mounted or the screws from the front? I can almost guarantee that you not getting the din cage on is whats causing the problem.

Ok the shop checked out everything, the shock dampeners, springs, the carriage ect... everything and he said hes having to jar the unit fairly hard to get it to skip.

Is it possible the kit I got is just junk. I have it installed incorrectly?

Or its over heating in the dash?

My factory head unit has a rubber spike type thing coming out of the back and when you center it, it plugs in to the dash (not an electrical connection just somthing that secures it)

Is it possible I need to have one of those on the pioneer deck?

Ill take pictures next time I have it out which may be a week or so cause ive been really sick.

I tried foam inbetween the deck and the kit and it didnt absorb the shock at all.

Its the metra kit for the 2005 sunfires.

The sleeve doesnt fit with the kit I have, it fits on the unit itself.

The only other thing I could thing is the shock dampeners are bad in the unit.

Sounds like whoever fixed it ****ed it up.

and if the sleeve doesn't fit something is ****ed up because i have used that exact kit and exact radio. Sounds like this thing is a giant piece of shit.

i feel for you but i dont think i would sell it on eBay unless you mark it as damaged. Your no better than the original seller at that point.

The sleeve 100% does not fit.
It is a metra with the pocket underneath.
I used rubberized foam weatherstripping and its just as bad.
**** i am out 350 bucks now. Im selling it on ebay and finding a new head unit. Im sick of this ****ing shit.
Its not every ****ing bump either but its often enough that it totally ruins the ****ing point of having an after market head unit.
Its solid inside the dash. The unit doesnt move around. I even had it out and if u give it a decent tap on the headunit it will skip.
I dont know if that means bad dampeners or what. I really hate to spend like 15-50 more bucks and have the dampeners replaced if its not gonna help.
BTW i plan on finding dudes address on ebay and paying him a visit in florida this summer. If i cant work this out.

its been awhile back so I really cant remember. I did think of this though, a dude told me one time he wrapped part of an innertube around his cd player to keep it from skipping. LOL I guess if it works it works.

did it have shipping bolsters in it? ive seen people break them off and then not file off the burr. But that is an iso opening standard size unless the radio specifically says another mounting other than DIN it will fit.
