I'm hoping interest in these types of things picks up and more manufactures get in and start developing these.
Looks like we have a guinea pig on this one, this guy bought one and is going to post his reviews once he gets it

Curious to see how it performs, I really hope well.

The one I have is windows ce or mobile. It sounds good enough for what I use it for. Mostly yo gabba gabba and spongebob for my daughter. Music is good too its what I'd expect from a 150 dollar deck

specs arent all that great on this one but it does support wifi and 3g
ive got allot of stuff from this site. honestly it sucks they are chinese but im not paying for something that was made there anyways and had an american sticker put on it. theres allot of these sort of things you can get direct from china. the windows ce head unit i have is one of them and it works well. ive even talked with the build houses of a few well known amplifier companies and the cost for getting it direct is crazy low just gotta ask for samples to get a low volume or single unit order.
Specs don't look too bad, how is the audio quality on the similar one you had?

What I don't like about the carputers and the tablet route, comes right down to the volume control. There isn't one, besides the one built into the OS.
Unless you put a POT inline with your RCA's or something like that. Didnt really want to do something like that, seems cheap.

My dream head unit, is actually pretty easy to pull off. A factory nav with weather and traffic overlay, with a JBL (or ARC Audio) processor.

I like the idea of having an integrated radar detector, but keeping it on par with the top ones (like the escort passport 9500 CI) would cost a fortune.

I had pretty much all of the features I wanted in the Alpine F#1status CDA-7990 with the PXI-H900, and the Pioneer Premier DEX-P9 with the DEQ-P9, and the Pioneer Stage-4 P99RS.

I liked the Burr-Brown K-grade DACs, the DSP functions allowing an active 4-way crossover setup with full control and parametric EQing, and changer control. I suppose MP2/FLAC etc support might have been nice, but not required since lossy compressed audio defeats the purpose of a high end SQ unit anyway.

you could even use wireless tethering on your phone so this would have an active data connection

i wounder if xda developers know about this im sure theres a way to upgrade the android rom. i almost got a new phone but then i used the google source for android 2.2 on my milestone/droid which worked and was nice and minimal. right now i have steel droid on it. its android 2.3.5 its a bit much for the phone unless i overclock it then the battery doesnt last long. i think im gonna go back to my 2.2 build or one that was built by someone who actually knows what they are doing not just following some directions. cyanogenmod or miui maybe idk.
im thinking this tablet is good enough for a carputer http://www.amazon.com/Coby-7-Inch-Touch ... OO0WE5382L. should have a car mode most do now dont they? my phone i switch to car mode has big buttons for navigation making calls voice search. head up display so i can sit it on my dash and look at the window see how fast im going what direction etc.
