Well I finally got a chance to play for a few hours, and this is what I ended up with. The sub is set at 63 herts with a 3rd order slope. The mids are at 80 for the HPF and 1.6 for the LPF both 2nd order slopes, and the tweeters ar set at 2k with a 2nd order slope. It took a while to find the best spots and slopes for everything, but once I was done, the pink noise sweep was almost flat without any tweaking from the PEQ.

Yeah I ended up played with it for a few min today, and ended up leaving the focals were they are, and set the sub at 60 herts with a 4th order slope. Thats were it sounded the best with out any tweaking on the EQ. I will let you know what it sounds in a few days. Its kinda late so I didn't get to listen much after I set the PEQ.

You know i never noticed till today, how much of a diffrence there is between a 48 db slope and a 24 db slope. The processor in my S10 used a 48 db slope, and if you left a gap like I have now it would have sounded like crap. I guess thats why I started tweaking the Accord with the two so close. Hmmm guess today was a good day I learned something new.

set the mids at 100-120Hz 12dB slope
that'd be a smoother blend

W7s, Brahmas, XXX's, Avalanches, all tend to be soft and muddy above 60hz or so. That was one of the main reasons I chose an ID Max, just in case I did go to 2 way components in future vehicles. Try dropping the sub x-over to around 60hz and leave the Focals around 80, the rolloff of each should give a response that is nearly flat, of course dependant on the cabin gain of your car. Keep the slope at 4th order for starters, if that doesn't work, try going with a shallower slope on the Focals, as long as you're 2nd order or higher, excursion won't increase as frequency gets lower.

Ok most of the 12s I have installed, I have set the X over about 75 to 80 and have had good results. So when I set my crossovers on the Accord, I set the sub at 80 and my Focals at 78 both with a 24 DB slope. It gave me a slight bump in the mid range, but when I set my EQ, it wasn't hard at all to smooth out.

So the other day, I broke out the iasca cd, and really dialed in the time delays, and let the EQ do another pink noise sweep. Loaded everything up, and am very happy with the results.

So on to my question. Now that I have everything dialed in, I have noticed my sub tends to sound a little flat around the 70 to 80 herts range. Its kinda hard to explain, other than it just doesn't sound as musical as I would like. Its not bad, the average person would never notice, but a true SQ guy can / would.

Is this normal for the W7 in a sealed box? 1.375 cubed if your wondering (JL spec)
