someone over at toyotanation.com said it could be a cold soldering joint? at the tweeter.. basically he said try and solder it good and see if it helps.. and if not it could be internal o_O

i have had subs that needed to warm up so assume the same can be said for tweets, its probably less noticable as the tweeter itself moves a lot less than a sub...my only concern would be why just one of them?

i have never had a problem with cold weather and stereo equipment. sometimes when i jump into my car and start it when there is snow on the back i throw some bass disc in to shake some snow off cause im lazy.

unfortunately i cant take it back, i got the comp set off of ebay.. lol.. have u ever heard of weather affecting the tweeter/tweeter fluid?

by smoker » Sat Oct 29, 2005 3:53 pm

if the other tweeter isnt doing it i would say there is something wrong with the tweet and take it back

by MrSo0h0o » Sat Oct 29, 2005 3:50 pm

well yea i switched it and i already know its the tweeter and has something to do with the weather as i said previously.. im just trying to figure out what i could do about this and why it may be happening..

its only the tweeter on one side? id try swapping sides and see if the problem goes with the tweet. if it does then the problem is the tweet itself, if it doesnt then you know to start looking at wiring, crossover things like that........

ok so i was messing with the tweeter today.. took it out, soldered the loose connections.. brought it outside and put it in.. tested it and it worked a'ok.. put the door panel back on and it wasnt working again! said, wtf! and went back to my orginal theory about the weather.. so while it wasnt working, i put my mouth up against it and blew warm air and BAM it worked!! i let it get cold again and it went out.. and did the same thing and it worked! sooo my question now is, has anyone ever heard of this happening and does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how i could possibly fix this? my only guess right now is the fluid inside the tweeter..

by Ryan from Ohio » Fri Oct 28, 2005 3:14 am

Possibly. The fluid could be freezing or slushing or something...

I would keep it off or real low for 5-10 minutes or until the cabin temp comes up to a reasonable level...

could this be "normal"? considering there is fluid in the tweeter, no?
