Yeah he was talking 500 for the comps and an amp. I told him to figure out what he wanted out of the sound. IE punchy or melow mid, bright or nuetral tweeter, and go from there. I sugested some of the JL or Elavation Audio components. I know he can get some of there mid range stuff for about 250 300 for the components. Or I should say, I am sure i can find him the JLs for that, and I know one of you won't mind hooking us up with some EAs.

OnYrMrk, I though about sugesting some of the low end focals too, but his tweets will most likely be off axis, So I was thinking about something with a better off axis responce.

pretty much any decent brand and comp set in that price range should give you want your looking for. i myself run bravox but finding a dealer by you is like a needle in a hay stack. Dls very nice along with arc rainbow focal and i have heard cdt are suppose to be pretty decent too. also the 500 is for comps and an amp? cause that cuts your budget down pretty good. you could get a nice set of elevation audio comps too. the list goes on an on.

Well buy something higher end.

Given that fact pick out a system that suits your tastes and in your price range.

MB Quarts are always pretty good. So is the higher end Diamond. been hearing good things about the ARC Audio comps also... Rainbow, love mine ... CDT is good aswell... I really liked my coaxials (braxials really), they were warm and crisp... Especially for $100!

Unfortanantly, he is in the same boat I was in, while stationed in Korea. Its not as easy to go check out stuf here, as it is in the states. Yeah we have a JL dealer that charges 1000 euro for a 12w7 ($1250) and and a few other options. But its hard to just go out listening for a day.

mb quart makes excellent comps with very strong midbass. if they are in your price range, I would highly suggest taking a listen to. Try to stay away from buying comps based on someones opinion, listen to them first..only your ears will know what sounds right to you.

jeremy's Utopia's are very nice sounding speakers. For $500 dollars you can get into some of the Focal K2Power KF's with the polykevlar-coned 6.5" mid/midbass, with the TN47 tweeter. That is what I have in my car currently, although I am waiting on some K3P's with dual 6.5's and the TN52 tweeter. You will get excellent midbass with the KF's and stay within your budget. Also if you want a three way system, you can look at the Focal Polyglass. The Access line is also very nice sounding on a budget, you can get into a set of Access comps for about 350/pr. they have the TN44 tweeter and it is the same tweeter they use in their home speakers retailling for about 1000/pr.

The Polyglass comps are of better quality than the Access, with better tweeter (TN47) and much better x-over. But for a good pair of 6.5" comps, the polyglass series offers three components. 1st a slim line 6.5/tweet setup that is for limited mounting depth. 2nd a 6.5/tweet set that is of normal dimensions, and a 6/3/tweet that is my choice of the three. All will give you excellent punch. I just like the separate mid with the midbass. I have had experience with all sorts of midbass, and in my opinion, and only my opinion, the best set of speaker comps out there would be this set:

Midbass: MB quart or Focal (with at least 100w)
tweet: ScanSpeak D1's or Dynaudio
x-over: custom design (I don't like any manufactured x-over)

I don't claim to know everything about car audio, but this is just my opinion of what would be my dream comps. I have heard that DLS and CDT both have mean midbass too. So you might look into those as well. Also the guys here that sell elemental might be able to help you out with some good comps too.
