K, I can get the ARC for $160 shipped from Arc. Elevation is $99 + shipping Do that or hold out for an Assassin for $70+ shipping (assuming new line is same price)? The FD would be $130.

Figure shipping might be $20, so the ARC would be $40 more? I think I may be leaning that way.

Thanks for clarifying that. The website doesn't show much on the FD, but the KAR needs 1 cu ft so I assume the same for the FD.

There's no notches on the Elevation cone? Then the pic is reflecting something that just looks strange. I couldn't find any more pics of it yet, but it needs a 1 cu ft enclosure also.

Thanks for all the input, you've been a tremendous help :)

one other question- Am I doing myself a disservice by limiting my sub budget to $120 area? Would I be better served going up to $175, $200? Or does that only get me a more power hungry sub? I would be happy with a 300w-400w sub, but I don't want to miss out on something leaps and bounds better for only $50 more or so. Like SoundSplinter, TC-1000, Eclipse Alum, etc? Course, I also need to see what the ARC comes in at.

So then it's the Assassin, (which is better, FD or KAR?) then Elevation. I just hope Ascendant gets stock soon, that's the only hang up with them.
The Foose and the KAR are basically the same sub. They use the same motor, but the Foose has a different magnet boot and a better voice coil material. And the Elevation's dont have any notches, they are just flat cones.

So Arc, Elevation then AA in order of preference, then apply my budget and looks. What price do you think the Arc price range ball park is? The guys there are emailing me back but I just have no idea what to expect. Would you still have Arc Audio first if it was a FD or KAR sub? How do the FD and Kar subs compare to the Assassin and Elevation Comp? If between Elevation and Assassin, I think I'd go Assassin.

The Elevation looks cool, but those ridges or something on the cone look clunky. Do you know where I can find some nice close up pics of the Elevation? Maybe the small jpgs are making it look worse than it is.
The new elevation's dont have the ridges in them. http://elevationaudio.com/newelevation/ ... e.php?id=1 That is the product page, dont know if you saw it or not. But the cones are shiny and stuff... pretty cool looking if you ask me.

If you went with a FD or KAR, you will be losing some ouput and a little bit of SQ compared to the ARC series. I would have to place the FD or KAR right behind the Ascendant Assassin.

Kid Red wrote:Ok, I've researched a ton of names I've never heard of, all from the highly recommended listing. I'd like to know what the best choice is for SQ and low bass. Not really concerned with SPL, but I want to be able to hear it, feel it and enjoy it :)

My tentative ranking based on what I can find, price, looks and specs-

Arc Audio ARC 10D2 250w (pending price)
Ascendant Audio assassin 10 $70
Massive Audio RW10 $120 400w
Oz audio vector series 10.3 $139, 350w
Elevation Audio comp 10 $99 300w
Elemental Designs 11kv.2 $115
Memphis MClass 15-MS104 (local dealer $140)
CDT EF-100 (did not like the cheap mounting ring) $90
Eclipse SW6000 300w $99 (not sure I can find a D2)
Diamond Audio D310D2 $99
I would cross off the second half of the list after the elemental designs. And just in case you didnt see, the Massive Audio only comes in dual 4ohm coils. Diamond's site is down right now, so i couldnt read up on their specs at all.

After doing a little reading on the specs of the subs and playing in winisd... i would have to make my list like this...

Arc Audio ARC
Elevation Comp
Ascendant Assassin
OZ Vector
Massive RW

All of the subs are going to have around the same SQ and output. The only thing i see is that the Ascendant and the Massive will fall a little behind in output over the others because they are a little less efficient. I don't know the price tag on the Arc, but i would choose between the Arc, Elevation, and Ascendant. The Ascendant is by far cheaper, so less money spent for what you are getting. The Arc on the other hand i think will be quite a bit more expensive that the others, but that price tag comes with it being a pure sq woofer.

Now, if either of these is a must have above the previous mentioned, I may splurge-

TC sounds TC-1000 $179
sound splinter RL-i $170

Any comments, lol. I can't seem to narrow it down because I have little knowledge or experience with any of these. I'd have to be able to purchase online because there aren't many dealers locally. At least give me like the top 2-3 and I can enie menie minie moe, haha. Seriously, if these are all equal, to me it would then be price/looks to decide.

Oooh, just saw the Assassin 10 for $70!? Whoa, but their website said unavailable. Any comments on assassins and where I can buy them? It's a single 4 ohm, so should work with my current amp.

thanks cargodz, you got one too :)

Ah, finally a vote for Eclipse. I had begun to second guess my inclusion of the Eclipse. This is tuff deciding and comparing without auditioning, lol
