Personally, I'd wait till you get the vehicle to see what you can fit in it...
Plus you're going to have to think about more than just the system itself... like the charging system. You're probably going to be looking at an alternator and wiring upgrade, second battery too... so those have to fit into the plan as well (especially battery placement).

So should I wait on Hifonics till the new subs drop?

by GlassWolf » Sun Apr 08, 2007 12:22 pm

yeah, one Fi Q 15". Got that while I was waiting to see if Geolemon ever came through with his subs.

I'm playing around with the idea of seeing how much space a single 18" would take up in the car at the moment. I have plenty of power for it.

Chyea it does.

I left it off the list as I have no first hand experience with Fi and obviously am not a Fi dealer (because you can only buy them direct), but from the feedback on this forum would definately recommend as an option. :)
As for Hifonics, they will no longer be making the Goliath subs, they are replacing with the Olympus and the Maxximus... Which again I would highly recommend, but we can't get them at the dealers yet as they are just now in production, but will have them soon.

did you go with the FI glass? That is one mitchell left off of his list that would rock hardcore, for not much out of pocket! You might also consider ONE good amp for your sub setup, I am a minimalist when it comes to that :p

don't take this the wrong way, but unless you're trying to impress people a block away, or you're really set on going deaf, a single fifteen should be all most people really need in a car.. a single 15" sub, if you choose a good sub and ample power for it, really should be able to meet your needs for most daily use applications.
I use a single fifteen in my fastback, and it does exceptionally well. I've never really felt at a loss for low end response.

I'd be willing to give up the whole trunk, and im not planning on getting a coupe so i think ill be good with 2 15's, any ideas on Hifonic's Goliath XX 1615? How good are they?

by cargodz » Sat Apr 07, 2007 12:12 am

Really depends on what you consider average.
With a 15" you're going to require more airspace and thus a larger box...
If you get a hatchback or a midsized car (with a large trunk) then you shouldn't have a problem, something smaller like say a Honda Civic Coupe you may want to look into just one really good 15".
The car always plays a factor before choosing the right equipment, since you need to know how much room you will require and how much you're willing to give up ;)

Haha yea I feel hella dumb bout the whole thing now but wut ever it seemed like a good idea at the time, but yea I'm going to go with the two quality 15's. Thanks for the list cargodz im deffenitaly going to look into that list, when I find the subs that I think I'm going with ill let you know, so I can get some help with picking out an amp, and later on the comps as well. Thanks for the replys to allll. As for the car I'm sorry to say I dont know yet, as im only 15 and a half and my birthdays coming up soon and im gooing to be getting my first car, perants said if I keep my GPA above a 2.0 I can get any car thats around 5000$ im still undecided....The 15's wouldent be to big for the average car right?
