if ya want an amp for stock speakers look at an amp like the JBL P80.4
it's 25 watts x 4 @ 4 ohms.
that'll be all the power you need.

Is it alternator noise? Like the frequency of the noise changes with engine rpm changes? Definately check the ground point on the wiring harness. Try sanding down the contact point.

I definately recommend sound dampening. The most important aspect of placing dampening material in your doors is to seal the door up. You want to try to cover ever single hole so the door cavity acts as an enclosure for your speaker. What this does is it prevents the back wave from canceling the front wave. It will greatly enhance your midbass performance and is well worth the effort. And of course it helps cut down on rattles and road noise.

i have constant noise coming out of my stock speakers when i listen to music.. its noticeable and is starting to get on my nerves.. i was reading up on the forum in another post about it possibly being the stock ground point of the wire harness. any ideas if this could be it or will this go away once i get new speakers?

also, do u suggest putting in some type of sound dampening material in my doors if i get the CDTs?

Best place to put the amp: Some place where it will be protected and get sufficient air flow to keep it cool. A trunk is a good spot :P
Best place to put crossovers: A lot of people put them in the doors behind the panel. I do not like to do this because of the moisture. I tend to place them under the driver and passenger seats.
Best place to angle the tweeters: It greatly depends on the car. I will generally get two of my friends to hold them in different positions until I find the ones that sound the best.

A two-way component set (tweeter and woofer) only needs a two channel amp. You can use a 4 channel amp if the passive crossovers support it, or if you get an external crossover and run the system fully active. Using a 4 channel amp on two-way components is refered to as "Bi-amping". But in general, you only need 2 channels to run a pair of components.

If you want to keep your rear speakers, just continue to run them off of the headunit. The CDT's and the JBL should be a fine match for what you are looking for.

hmm.. well, i have been looking at the CDT 6.5"s on theZeb.com for a while now. if i amp those with a JBL GTO 75.2, would that do the trick? and what could i do with the rear speakers? i think i would want at least a little bit of sound from them.

Definately do not amplifier your stock speakers with an aftermarket amp. It would be a waste, and often times factory speakers have odd impedences.

I'd get some aftermarket component speakers and a 2 channel amplifier and call it a day. You want most (I prefer ALL) of your sound to come from the front speakers.

if i wire my stock speakers(1993 camry) to a 4 channel amp, what will be too much power for them? is this a good idea? and if not, what is a good idea to start out with? changing out my front soundstage and amplifying that? or will that make the front TOO loud?
