hmm, it really does sound like there is something wrong with the CD part of the deck. :(

It doesn't give any sort of code, and if I leave the cd in then after several on/off cycles the unit shuts down and the display light just slowly flashes until you remove the faceplate and reset the radio. Not sure if that helps anything, but thought I'd mention it.

Your issue is a strange one, so it doesn't display any type of actual error code or anything like that?
If it was jammed I would think it would display a number that represents an error code.

If it just shuts off, I have a feeling the CD unit is bad. But I could be wrong, anyone else have any ideas?

Newbie cd player question

I picked up a used Kenwood cd player for my daughter, the factory stereo in my old Cherokee doesn't have AUX input and she wants to be able to listen to music from her phone. (KDC MP-245) I got the wiring harness and installed it. I'm not great with stereos, but have changed out a few and always been successful. On this one though, the radio plays and the AUX input works fine. If I put a cd in though, it says reading for a second or two then the display flashes almost like it loses power. It will cycle a few times trying to play the cd basically turning on and off but won't play it. I tried a couple different store-bought cd's and the same results each time. Is the cd player just junk or is there something stupid I am missing. Any help would be appreciated.
