hmm ok..... dont mind the Tempest, components, and JBL part... my Tempests' spider detached from the basket... gotta send it in soon.. then selling it when i get it back for a $100+shipping or ill sell it now, lol.... no money for a new amp or comps... also i am currently dating the girl i referred to as a friend before. so... i just installed some Kicker DX60 6 1/2" coaxials, and the rears are some old school coaxial Pioneers.. i am/we are satisfied with the sound for now (ofcourse id rather have components.) and the subs i am using now are Planet Audio Vortex(not the best but not as bad as i thought, good for metal, and rock, for rap it suffers on the low end some, but all around these subs have suprised me), powered off my RF 3001, which does 300rms at 2ohms and 150 at 4ohms.(each sub is getting 150rms).

my damn pioneer NEVER skips, ever, period. I only use mp3 cds though (recorded at ultra high bitrates of course)

Also, look into RE RE and Adire Koda mids.

hey sorry to revive my old post.. found some more info on it..(this is from an Ebay auction), but whats this about the Hybrid Amp? do i need a amp kit to use it or somethin? also to add to Diceman's comment, yes it does skip with cd's with a few scratches and such, and it is pretty annoying... i wouldnt think an Alpine this nice (i guess its nice, i think i read its like $400 or so new when it came out?but that isnt the point.) but if i had it cleaned do you guys think it will help, and how do i go about cleaning it myself?

the 7893 is junk,i owned one,it will only play certain cdr's,it will skip with the slightest scratch on the disc, and the "4 volt" sub out MIGHT be 4 volt turned all the way up,and at max volume,i say this because i had to damn near max out the gain on every amp that i ysed with mine to get decent sound out of my subs.i.e.:mtx 6500d,mtx 801d,profile msx 400,crossfire bmf 600d,just to name a few...on the upside,it looks nice, the v-power internal amp does a pretty good job,and tine correction is nice...i would go with the 7894 or higher,or anewer model if going with alpine...me myself,i would get an eclipse,i traded my 7893 straight across for an eclipse cd8051 and i have never been happier with a hu...just mt $.02

by 6three6mafia6 » Tue Nov 16, 2004 9:11 pm

very clean HU, that thing pushes about 30 rms , thats more than most regular HU's, thing even requires a wiring kit, but you wont be using it so.
