also look into a pg tantrum 1200.1 (if you can find one) as they can do up to 1500rms+ 2-4ohms. jl is overpriced. but that zapco would do well.

Yeah if your using a power supply get the JL 1000/1. Its going to be your best bet with the coil config, and only having 12 volts to run it.

Just curious, how are you hooking this up that you need a power supply?

But doesnt it change since i am using a stadard 12V power supply...so wouldn't the power decrease with that power supply, then making it closer to 500 watts at 3 ohms?

Test of the Zapco 1100M-it put out 905.5W RMS at 4 ohm, 1204.5 into 2 ohm-that's at 14.4V. Doesn't handle a 1 ohm load. Apparently it doesn't double power with halving impedance, which in your case is a good thing. Anyway, should power that W7 just fine, and it's a great amp. Looks like it's similar to the current Zapco Reference 1100.1-which is rated to do 800W@4 ohm and 1100@2 ohm.

the 13W7 is dual 1.5 ohm. only way it's offered.
the zapco puts out 1100 @ 1, so 550 @ 2, and 275 @ 4.
that'd be around 450 watts RMS or so (given a slight increase in efficiency as load increases) at 3 ohms

that zapco amp is about half what the 13W7 needs
get the 1000/1

In all honesty, the JL 1000/1 will give 1000w at 4,2,and 1 ohm. So you don't double power when you lower impedance. The Zapco "only" gives 1100w at 1 ohm, that is a funny statement. Trust me, using the Zapco will do you justice with the 13w7, and the McIntosh will really do you justice with any set of components. Look into the Diamond Hex series or some Focal 165KF components. Both will do you excellence and your equipment is fine for your needs. If your budget was $500 for comps, then why would you go and spend another grand for a sub amp when you already have one. IMHO, Zapco is a better maker of amps than JL anyway.

i would wire it in series and use that zapco. zapcos are brutes and it should power that sub nicely.

they are dual 1.5 ohm....what does your amp do at 3 ohms? it should be enough but for optimum performance i think something that does around 1200-1300 watts at 2 ohms would be best....maybe this for example

he means is it a dual 4ohm or dual 2ohm..it should say on the sub or the box/manual it came with.. that will really help us out to tell you.. and for the JL amp, the JL 1000/1 is perfect for it.. if that Zapco amp puts out 1100 rms then it may work fine..
