bose speaker help

by rst81 » Thu Jul 13, 2006 10:22 am

Hello.
I am new to this forum and not an expert in car audio stuff.
I would like some advice on speaker upgrades.
I currently have a 96 Benz C280 with a stock Bose system. I changed my head unit to Alpine, with the Ipod interface.
I now would like to replace my stock door speakers, and want some recommendations in doing this project. I understand the stock Bose speakers are 2ohm? I can't find any speakers with 2ohm rating except the Infinity Kappa.
Has anyone replaced their stock speakers with the Kappas? Also, I asked an audio shop, and they said because it's a Bose system, I need to rewire the new speakers direct to the HU, correct?
Sorry for the newbie ramblings.
Thanks in advance for your help.
