Re: Member roll call

I saw JoeyC a few weeks ago. He is doing pretty good. Few health issues, but he is still kicking and getting into mining crypto currencies. Still one of the smartest computer guys I know. My step daughter just turned 17, and the wife and I are considering having one of our own. Lord kids are expensi...

I'm Still Alive

Well, guys... Its been a while. I was on my computer tonight moving some shows to my iPhone and decided to check in. Lets see, what has changed for me. I separated from the military, moved to Texas, and I got married. We bought a house, I got a job local working for a defense contractor, started goi...

Re: Specific Woofer - Sealed Or Ported Question

Are the formulas i knew then obsolete? No, they still mater just the same. A sub that is designed for a sealed box will still sound and perform better sealed. Same as a sub that is designed to be ran ported will perform better ported. The advertisements and personal knowledge has changed, but most ...

Re: is it possible?

Even if the amp can handle it, I wouldn't suggest it. The subs are going to have different suspensions, and different specs. So one subs x max on a note can and will be different than the others subs x max on the same note. That will cause constructive and destructive interference between the sound ...

Re: VY Holden Rear 6x9 Speaker Options - Cerwin Vega Anyone ?

Vegas used to be pretty decent back in the day. Im not sure if they are any more.

6/9s are not going to give you much undistorted low end. I think you would be better off with a small sub and amp combo.

Re: Amp and speakers questions.

There is nothing wrong with having more amp than the speakers require. Music is just a complex AC wave. So your peaks are minimal. Just because your amp has more available output than your speakers are rated at does not always mean blown speakers. You just have to be smart in your setup and volume c...

Re: add me on FB

Don't worry, we are all still alive. And I still love car audio. However.... I work full time, go to school full time, and I have a house, finance, and a 15 year old to deal with. In other words, I have no life. Chris, thank you for the birthday email. I know it is automatic, but its still nice to s...

Re: Stagging issues ... Need help

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I started a new job, and bought a house. So I haven't had much free time to help out around here. So let's start with your question. Why does the drivers side sound so narrow? It sounds narrow, because it is narrow. Look at the location of the speaker, and now im...

Re: Stagging issues ... Need help

There are lots of reasons that the stage could be narrow on the drivers side. Reflections, speaker angle, distance.... Tell us more about the car and how you have the speakers installed.

First off, why do you want two component sets in the front? I'm sure you've heard me talk about why I don't like the idea more than a few times.

Second, yes Y splitters would work, but you are over complicating things.
