I used to be a Focal dealer, and the designs are a little more "old school" conservative. They aren't high excursion subs by any means, nor do they have particularly strong motors. The construction is high quality, the materials are as fine as they use in their midrange drivers, and when t...

Chris, that car was Justin Elfkowitz (sp?)'s 300M built with Audison Thesis and Focal Be. Yes, Orca had a bit of a falling out with Audison. Apparantly Audison threw a bit of a hissy fit about Focal bringing in their line of amplifiers and refused to be marketed alongside Focal anymore. So Orca dro...

If someone started an imaging thread, I've got two links that are good... OK, one I wrote, so I'm biased. :p But what's fun to extrapolate back to is that there are just three things that reach your ears - your brain uses these simple things to create a soundstage - psychoacoustics. 1) freque...

from what ive read, both are about meaningless... Exactly - but that's exactly WHY a thread on "slew rate" and "damping factor" would be so valuable - you wouldn't be standing on the sidelines of the tennis court watching Itsa Importante lob the ball back and forth with Noah Its...

Just remember if you get an XM or Sirius tuner for your HU - it's tied to the HU, meaning you can only listen to XM or Sirius in your car... unless you buy a whole separate receiver for your house, and pay for a separate account for that tuner. That's why the portable tuners with docking stations ar...

Oh, look - Steg was on display. (Oh, I'm sorry, here referenced somewhere as "mortal enemy of Audison" I think? :p ) First year, for them. Orca must have brought them in, they have a booth every year. Last year, they had a sick 300C on display built by Billy Brown (who had built the shop I...

Ah, same thing you see every year. This is the first year in six that I decided not to go. What I'll really miss most is the time spent at the Alexia Park complex, which is the designated high-end audio section - audition $100,000 rigs all day long. Great for keeping a "tuned ear". ;) I li...

Why not just get a single-DIN unit with a flip-out touchscreen that does everything the Eclipse does?

Added benefit: The screen will be higher and closer to your fingertips than if you squeezed in a double DIN way down there.
